I am having to make a Birthday Card
In among all the Christmas cards making I always seem to forget that one of my special friends has a Birthday on Christmas Day.  This year I have managed to get just the right stamp so that the card will be personal to herself.... unless I meet anyone else with a Christmas Day Birthday - not counting Jesus of course!!
My desk this week is all set to start making .... first the card then the secret present!  

I have some peel offs, papers and THE STAMP!

Boring but ...... what about these snowy garlands ......

... to the normal person they would look like snow on telephone wires but this is me .......snowy garlands!  They reach across my bedroom window and drape across the road ..... love them.

Rain is forecast today so Little Soldier and me are moving 'stuff' around the house so that we have room for ..... the tree .... and the village ..... and.... the TRAIN!!!
Woohoo!  Christmas iza cummin ....... Christmas iza cummin....  (that's Brummie for Christmas is coming!)....

November Swap

I printed out the images I wanted for my cards and coloured them with a water colour wash.  I attached each image to an appropriately coloured card and cut this to size.
I printed the image out again and fussy cut each image, attaching it flat and then outlining with a black sharpie.
Looking at these cards, I thought something more was needed so bordered the printed image background with a matching sharpie pen using a ruler.

Still flat and dull........ 




Just a touch of Stickles glitter, in various colours, added to the dresses greatly improved these cards ........ but there was still something ......
A sentiment!!!

Sunday in England

During the night, very softly, a white blanket covered our area and by the time we were up and about, there is transport chaos in the land!

Some folks love it, in my younger days the children and I were out at first light, using socks folded as mittens on our hands and having the most fun....

...... now it is beautiful to look at from behind the windows.


After breakfast we decided that today would be a good day to try out the Slow Cooker, swapped for a Toasted Sandwich Maker with our DDN.
The meat and vegetables were layered up and the heat switched on.

The snow was still snowing, folks were out shovelling and taking photos .... me?  

I'm in the craft room making a few more Christmas cards, setting my own challenge.  A few sheets of card and some peel offs ......

Quite pleased with the results.

It's almost dark now and still snowing, PJ's sister (who lives near London) rang to see if we were OK  - she has only rain ..... so far ....

Along the road out front

Had to include these trees out the back!

We are the 'lucky ones', I think we are about 8inches deep now but my pantry is full of tinned goods and so long as the power stays on we will be fine.   

The new back door to my kitchen may not be fitted this week though!!

November Theme Swaps

Food




I collaged some printed images of food, cut the phrase - eat what you like and let the food fight it out inside - into smaller pieced.
I then attached the image, highlighting areas with pens and then added the phrases.  Once the card was dry, I outlined both the phrase and the edges of the card with blue sharpie.

I found this image in my files, printed it out and added a bit of watercolour to the ladies and food. I edged the image and added it to a grey painted card.  Then I added the inevitable TH words!!

This card is soooo true!

I printed out the image and added some colour to the chocolate and then felt that it needed a bit more so coloured in the rest.  I think I managed to find just the right sentiment from TH's book.

I received the following cards by return:

November Colour Swap

Grey & Pink
Very pretty colours with happy memories for me.
I embossed a piece of grey card with a Steampunk folder and then cut to size.  


I printed a flying pig image, which I absolutely love so keep it safe in my file!!  I water coloured the printout and then, once it was dry, fussy cut out the image.  I attached it to one of the grey pieces of card and then added some Tim Holtz words - watercoloured to match.

I added one of my multicoloured diecut Butterflies to another piece of card.  I attached only the body of the butterfly and then added some TH words.

I diecut some of the Heartfelt Creations Gears and Cogs, gave them a pink watercolour wash and put to one side to dry.
I attached them randomly (supposed to be a flower!) and then added a strip from TH's book.

Alphabet Swap - J,K,L.

This time I completed two cards for J, one I shall send to UK Stampers Group.
J for Joker.

Now before I go any farther I will tell you that I have a pack of cards that are perfect for ATCs.  I bought them some time ago, knew exactly where they were in the small room,but now ..... I cannot find them anywhere!!!!
I printed a few images from the web onto card and then cut them all out.  I made up the cards but then decided that this is the one I will enter for the Alphabet Challenge.
I have a cards background and then fussy cut out the border and attached it with thin 3D foam.  I cut the Joker card out and attached it with a thicker 3D foam tape so that it stood proud of the rest of the card.

K is for Keys.
Recently we had a diecut swap in the Group so I have used two of these keys.
The background is a piece of kitchen roll which was all I had to hand when I tried out the Chocolate Baroque Butterfly stamp so I used a gluestick to attach to the base card.  I then added the sentiment and attached the keys with a brad through an (very) old ring sizer.  I had to cut the keys to get them to fit through the sizer but it doesn't show too much.

L is for London
I did a bit of stamping and masking here but, you know, I still can't get the tower clock to look in proportion to the vehicles!
I coloured the card using Inktense pencils and, this time, instead of using my waterbrush on the colours, I sprayed the card with clear water and then placed a piece of kitchen roll over the top to mop up the excess.
I love the way the colours have really popped!  Nothing wishy washy here, this is London!!

Another desk, another work in progress......

I am starting an ATC set with the theme Angels but so far have only completed the backgrounds.  I have printed out a few ideas but we shall see...

Please note the stamps at the back of the desk, fell in love with these so had to buy the Magazine!!

I am hoping to put a swirly sentiment across each of these cards.

I have the decorator in my kitchen at the moment so it looks as though I may have my kitchen finished by Christmas .... yes!!!

I have been very busy helping out my DDC this past week and thought you might like to see part of the fun!

All the Christmas cushions are out ready for the big day.

Of course this is me ..... nothing is as it appears ....

Don't you just love that cheeky face!!!

Such fun we have together ....

Such screams of laughter, so many times the cushions were put back .....
