WOYWW #651

WOYWW - All the deets on how to link up etc. and, more importantly, why you should, can be found at the top of the page.  Thank you Julia for hosting another week of fun and mayhem.

Bright and early this morning.  I am wearing a heart monitor which is not really conducive to sleep, little box clipped to bra and wires dangling . . .  only for 24 hours so not too bothered by it.

Lots of desk pictures for you but this is the one I will really own . . . .

Just before I thought to take the photo the desk looked like this . . . .
Can you guess what I've been making? he! he!

Yes, the Christmas boxes have been out and used.

Now the desk looks like this . . . .

Peter's box of butterfly stamps and dies.  He had this idea of making an album of butterflies, he started it at one of the Crops, but it was never finished as the novelty faded and work took over.

Today the box is out and about to be used on some cards . . . . .

I am taking advantage of no Membership work to be done and making lots of cards, having a lovely time!

So that's what I am up to but it will be all change soon as I go desk hopping for a visit and a nosey and some inspiration . . .

Making ATCs and Coins - nothing new there then,  I did make some cards earlier in the week, but I will show them later.

Short but sweet this week, I'm afraid. . . . .  busy, busy . . . .

Good morning!

Only just, I hear you reply . . .

My excuse - I have to take things slowly.

My SILA is in having a second stent fitted this morning, praying for your speedy recovery Andy, I do not wish to join him!

The desk

I have been making a few Christmas cards, saw the magazine to the right of my desk and I am inspired!  It's Papercraft Essentials current issue and the card kit comes free.

I did manage to take this photo the other morning, (for you Helen!) the colours were so deep that I had to go outside to have a real look.

I shall be moving on to my 'Friends of Vintage Trains' work later today, so not much visiting . . . . .

Just make sure you are having fun because . . . .

October cards

I don't know if I have said anything about my other card swapping groups I have joined . . . . Two but they are basically off shoots of my Crafty Cardmaking Group. . . . . one will encourage me to use my die cuts (Die Cutting Friends) and then more general cards (Casmet).  I shall not have separate labels for these, I will keep them with my Crafty Cardmaking label . . . .  we're all friends together here! !

Now it gets really boring for my non-cardmaking readers  . . . . usual rules apply . . . . if you don't happen to like it pass me by  . . . . . (calls for a song -or a film [Mother Goose] perhaps) . . .

My DF cards usually consist of two swaps, a free choice and then a theme or colour.

This month I went with a Thank you card in blue

I really like this card and may make more with this diecut - especially to send to the Hospital and Ambulance services.

I received this fab card back from Eileen - decoupaged beautifully.

Thank you Eileen.

The second theme was Pretty in Pink and I still had out some of my stash so made a card from the remnants - quite pretty really . . .

I received this pretty pink card from Maxine.
Thank you Maxine, I love it.

Crafty Cardmaking consisted of four swaps.
Noobie - or free choice
The die cuts get everywhere!!

This gorgeous card came from LaVerne - love all the techniques used on this . . . . Thank you LaVerne.
Colour - Brown
Lots of Autumnal colours this month . . .
Using up more stash - this design caught my eye from Pinterest
This card from ChrisF is a stunner!  the photo does not do it justice.
The card is embossed with gold and the shades of brown are dark against the pretty butterfly.
Thank you Chris.
Technique - Twisted Easel
This card is more shades of cream and grey, the card and backing paper being cream.

I received this card which is definitely shades of brown!  Madge has used some lovely paper.

Thank you Madge

Alphabet - U
I had some cards from Craftee left so was able to make an Umbrella card

My card from Madge was an interpretation I have never thought of the whole time I have been making cards - Underworld!

Well done Madge and thank you.
That leaves us the CASMET Group which has four swaps.
Card of the Month
see what I mean about those diecuts!?!
Pauline thought this card very busy but it was bright and cheerful when I opened it on a dark and overcast morning.

Member's Choice - Autumn
I had already made my card and then Madge's card arrived and it was almost identical to mine so I had to have a quick change of plan.
I used some of the paper and diecuts from a Tattered lace magazine in my stash.  I don't recall ever using the freebie papers and die together before but I am really pleased with this outcome.  I may make some more of these but perhaps stamp the sentiment onto a white piece of card.
I love this card - it speaks Autumn to me!
Thank you Madge

Pat's Letter - D
I have several of these kits unused in my box - Dinasaur!
Craftee kit again - I just love them.
This is a Digital card - my first I think so is very interesting.
Thank you Barbara
Shades of Mauve / Lilac
more papers from my stash - what is doesn't get used up gets thrown!
 ooh!  look . . . another diecut!!
Beautiful pergamano!  Love it
Thank you Marlene

And I managed to post them off on time!!

WOYWW #648

648!  My how time flies!  I suppose it is all the fun I have been having that makes it go so fast . . . .  lol.

To be frank, I have been so busy there hasn't been much time to blog but now I have to take things a bit easier, sitting at my desk blogging is about it!

The desk:

There is a pink glow to this picture because it was taken on Tuesday afternoon and the sun is shining full blast into my room.  Did you read and inwardly digest that?  The sun is shining! ! ! ! ! !

It is still cold but I don't have to go out into it thanks to my wonderful daughters.

Anyhow . . . .the desk . . . .

Just the laptop on it for the moment.  I am working on my Blog, hopefully bringing it up to date.

Sharp eyed folk might spot the new picture on the left from my Hero, it warms my heart to think of him . . .

But I am ok now so long as I do not overdo things, so I sit and type!!

I shall have lots more time to catch up with everyone so beware . . . . . .Mrs Pink is on the prowl! ! !

Trying to catch up

I have realised as I am having to sit around a lot, so that I can rest until my results come from the hospital, that I have not blogged any of my cards for a long time.  I intend to rectify that so, if you're not interested in my creations, please feel free to pass my posts by. . . . .

I will start by showing my ATCs and Coins swaps for October.

I do not enter any hallowe'en swap as I cannot justify this celebration but here are the others.

My partner swap

and the received cards from ChrisF.

Thank you Chris.

The colour was for us to choose Any Colour

Great selection from me don't you think?!?

I received these cards from Rubes, PaulineM and JanS.  Thank you girls.

The first coin theme is Transport

bit of a selection with some collage.

I received the following from JanS, Philippa and Dawn.  Thank you girls

The second theme was Times and my thoughts turned to Steampunk . . . . of course!

Not very clear but there is an Owl, Mouse and Cat.

The coins I received are from JanS with Holiday Times, Dawn with clocks and Thelma with Time Capsules.

Thank you girls, love the interpretations.

The cards are yet to come . . . .

The Hero

Down at the Loco Works, outside the office stands a plant pot filled with flowers.  All the summer flowers have died back now and the spring bulbs are beginning to show their green shoots.

Grandma bought some pretty plants, just to brighten it up a bit.

Grandma and her grandson went down to the Loco works with the plants and planted and watered the pretty plantpot, it did look cheerful in the grey overcast daylight.

Grandma and grandson then went round the 'yard' looking at all the engines, even 6320 - Duchess of Sutherland - was parked up so that she could be viewed from all sides. . . . .

Then it was time to go home, perhaps stop in the village and buy some lunch.  They trundled up the hill to the bus stop and then had to wait a very long time for the bus to come.  They chatted and played guessing games.

When they arrived in the village, they had just missed the bus that takes them to Grandma's house so they decided to have lunch.  They visited a café which they hadn't been in before so it was quite an adventure, they checked the Menu and decided they would have Fish and Chips!!!

After they had eaten lunch, they crossed the road to wait for the bus.  While they were waiting, Grandma sat on the seat and the grandson looked in the shop windows and they both played guessing games again.

Suddenly Grandma didn't feel very well so she asked her grandson to come and sit with her for a while.  She didn't get any better and, if truth be told, she felt worse.

"Do you remember how to use my phone?" asked Grandma

"Not really" said the grandson

"Ok", said Grandma, "I'll tell you what to do".

So she told him how to telephone his Auntie, who wondered what was wanted.  He told her his Grandma was not very well and whereabouts they were.

Auntie arrived, decided Grandma was definitely ill and needed an ambulance.  She then phoned her sister to tell her to come and collect the Hero.

Mommy came and took the Hero, for that is what the grandson was, to Daddy and Mommy went back to be with Auntie and Grandma.  The Hero and Daddy waited until Mommy came back home to find out what had happened to Grandma.

Grandma was taken to the hospital but had to wait outside for four hours because no-one is allowed in because of Covid.  The ambulance man and lady were amazing, they told her stories, jokes, made sure she had food and drink, then came and checked up she was ok when she had been taken inside to a ward.

Inside the hospital, all the usual tests were carried out and it was decided Grandma's dicky heart had become a tricky, dicky heart and she must stay in for some tests.

Grandma was in hospital for three days and met lots of interesting people, also some very ill people, some confused people who went to sleep in one place and woke in another, and some very selfish people who wanted to be waited on all the time.

When she came home, she told her grandson all about what had happened and how he would always be her Hero . . . . for ever . . . . and ever.

She loves her Hero very much.
