WOYWW #630

WOYWW - All the deets on how to link up etc. and, more importantly, why you should, can be found at the top of the page.  Thank you Julia for hosting another week of fun and mayhem.

Congratulations to me!  I have remembered to link up!!

I know that I am progressing with finding my way around this laptop, I may even start with Blogger soon, but it is hard going for me.  It takes me a loooong time to sort out what I want to do which was soooo simple with my old laptop, but I know I am getting there. . . . . probably be Windows 45 by the time I master this one!!

My Desk:

Do not let the fact that this is how it has looked since Sunday detract from the view . . . . .

I spent most of the day on Sunday trying to find and transfer my digital images, I managed to do so and then found that I have lost all my Vera Lane's.  Luckily I found these printouts from an earlier time so they  will have to be used.   I am ready to colour them once I can find the time (still looking for the extra 24hours, take it no-one else has found any either) my pencils are in the large plastic box.

Eagle eyes may spot the ink cartridges . . . . the big one on top is empty.  Inside the packet underneath are all the colours that fit my printer EXCEPT the big black one!!!  That will be with the new pack that is in the desk drawer in the box room . . . . . underneath all the Christmas boxes and bags that never went up in the loft!!!

Oh!  yes!

I thought Peter's desk drawer would be a good place to keep the ink cartridges as most of them were already in there.  My second thought was to leave all the Christmas decs in the box room as it is not used now . . . . . .bad thinking on my behalf . . . .  guess retrieving ink cartridges from behind bags and boxes will take up most of tomorrow!!!

Such an exciting life!!

I hope that your week is a bit more creative and adventuresome.

Most peculiar day

I couldn't seem to find any direction yesterday . . . .  no Fx!  So I immersed myself in paperwork for Vintage Trains.  I had hoped to go plant the centre bed but heavy rain was forecast so I didn't see the point.

I also dealt with mundane stuff like notifying the Council that the gutter drains outside are blocked, nay - not blocked - covered in 'stuff' so that they are invisible!  With this storm pending, I can do without any flooding thank you.

I was woken this morning at 07.30hrs by the most peculiar sounds and, viewing from a bedroom window, there were two workmen cleaning said drains!!

How's about that for service!!

Something I did not expect, less then 24hours reaction to my email, I thanked them very much and told them I was impressed with their swift action.   By their demeanour, I don't think they are used to folk thanking them for their work but it is good to know that the road and surrounding houses will not have to deal with maniacs driving their cars through the flooded road.

Well done Birmingham City Council!

Today Fx will be with me and, dependant on the weather, we should have another fun day . . . . . it's not dependant on the weather . . . . . we always have fun!

Thought I would show you some peonies flourishing out in the border . . .

They have been there for some years but this year they are really showing off!!  Love them.

The dolls house saga continues

Well, it doesn't really.  It's just something that happened round here.

The doll's house was in a position where it could be seen so Dx asked what was inside.  All the furniture came out to be looked at and then he wanted to play with it.  That furniture has been in its boxes inside the house for the best part of seven years or more.

"Of course you can", I said.

We had lots of fun sorting out the sets, basic wooden shapes, and, before it all went away into a box, we decided all the people are going to be super heroes and the house will be decorated as such.
Guess my printer will be working overtime . . . . . and then the sewing machine to make new outfits . . . once I've found out how to undress the figures!!
A few days later along came Fx, spotted the box and voila!!  out came all the furniture and a new 'house' built!!
All those years that house, and all the furniture and people, has been packed away for me to renovate . . .  it could have been stimulating these young minds much earlier . . . .
As DDC says . . .  every day's a school day!

WOYWW #628

WOYWW - All the deets on how to link up etc. and, more importantly, why you should, can be found at the top of the page.  Thank you Julia for hosting another week of fun and mayhem.

Another week has flown by, I am still learning about my laptop . . . . . have managed to add a couple of programs so feel happier now.

The desk:

Pile to the left is paperwork to be or being sorted.

The new photo on the laptop is to honour Peter.  When Fx saw the one I had there, he wanted to know where the Cheetahs were . . . . . they're back!!

The pile on the right is some boxes of peeloffs found when sorting for paperwork!?!  Don't ask!!

Anyhow I am going to transfer them into a larger box so that they are with the rest of my peeloffs . . . . I'm  thinking along the lines of car boots, now they are back on the scene!!

So there you go, lots of sorting and throwing and tidiying and sitting wondering if it will ever be finished!!

Happy WOYW day

Back at Tyseley Visitors' Garden

Judy and I started back at the Visitors' Garden and after much humming and haaing we decide to weed between the slabs and go from there.

I started at the entrance

and Judy started by the centre bed.

This meant that we were both able to access some shade as the sun came out and it became very hot.

We managed to stay the course until 14.00hrs and then had to give up as it was far too hot to work.  We are very pleased with what we have managed to achieve, I can't show you photos as  . . . . .I forgot!!

I hope to go down again later in the week, just to water our donated plants.  Our very kind neighbour has made a donation again, lots of Tobacco plants (Nicotiana) included this year, so I want to make sure they will be alright until the weekend.  We have three days of rain forecast but until then I have placed them in the shade under the fig tree.

Time spent in the garden

Over the last two days, DDC and I have been trying to get the garden under some control.

The first day we (she) cut all the bushes at the end of the garden down to fence height.  We were both shocked at how much light flooded into the garden!  I really didn't expect that . . . .

I also spotted a Red Weigela peering out at the top, what a lovely sight!  I keep looking at it from the kitchen doorway and it makes me feel good.

'We' then tackled what was left of the Black Bamboo.  It has been so tall for so long it seems very strange now not to have it waving at me through the window as I sit here typing.

I now have something to do in the garden  . . . . cutting all this down and filling my brown bin!

The second day 'we' attempted to clean the pumps in the pond . . . . . 'take photos as we take it apart then we'll know how to put it back together again'  she says . . .

 . . here's a good tip - remember to take photos!!

That's all!!

But we did manage to fit it all back together again.  I think we were so interested to see how far we could get without breaking it . . . . the sludge went on the garden as there are no tomatoes this year . . . . .

However we successfully cleaned two pumps and the water is looking lovely and clear . . . . .hello fish.

This is really a photo of the Iris buds but it includes two pumps working admirably . .

WOYWW #627

 Hello my fellow WOYWWers

A very short post to say it feels as though I am back among the living. . . . . . .

I have the new (to me) laptop up and running, albeit without several editing programs yet to be uploaded!!

I am linking this very short post because I think I can . . . .  no pictures but my desk just has this laptop on it.

No photos of the great ATCs I have received from Wipso and Twiglet and the one from my swap partner Maurs which arrived yesterday.  As soon as I can I will post photos . .  . sooner than later I hope.

Have a good week

Hoping to link this with Julia at Stamping Ground and catch up with everyone.

I am now able to use Peter's laptop which is much newer than mine so, hopefully, once I am a bit more au fait with the layout and speed I will be able to post a bit more often but don't hold your breath!!  lol

I have lots of stories and photos to share so be prepared to be inundated with news!!!
