"State" Your Landmark

This swap appealed to me because it would give me chance to promote my hometown/city.
So I googled my city and scrolled through the images, thinking J R R Tolkien - who is one of our local celebrities - I decide to use a view of the Mill......

Sarehole Mill.  I love visiting this place ....I have some lovely memories of walking down that way with the children .......

Another landmark I love to visit is The Botanical Gardens .... it is very old and a beautiful place to visit .... once again .... lots of lovely memories.....

The Town Hall in the commercial area of town is a gracious old building .... now used for concerts.  It is a very intimate venue, it held rock concerts in the 60s and continued up to the present day.  The area round it changes but the building itself remains stoic in the midst of all this change.

My favourite part of Birmingham is the BullRing.  The place itself is full of history and, after several years of living with this area as a building site, the new BullRing was completed in 2003.

I have seen three different bullrings - as a child, as a young mother and now as a mature woman.  I posted part of its history on my other blog - Recollections and Memories - with lots of photos.

So after choosing my photos, I sketched them out on some watercolour paper.  My perspectives may be out, my straight lines wonky, but my joy in painting these landmarks was 100%!!!!
I hope you can tell that I am proud to be a Brummie, Birmingham born and bred.
