WOYWW #500

What a way to start 2019 - a whole new digit ....5xx... totally unexpected by our wonderful leader, Julia, over on Stamping Ground .... who would've thought it .... so much friendship, laughter, love ....
All I can say is 'Happy New Year' to everyone!!    Mine will be a very happy one .... eventually!!

My invisible desk.....
Just before Christmas but after PJ’s fall and the lovely day at DDC, we were afflicted with a great deal of tiredness.  We put it down to having sooo much to do, me especially with PJ not being able to drive plus getting ready for Christmas, headaches were the order of the day.
Anyhoos, it turns out that we had a gas leak.

Not enough to be noticed as I am a ‘open window freak’ and windows are open if it isn’t raining or foggy.  Once the frost comes, said windows remain closed.

And so it was that we slowly started sleeping much better, this insomniac was loving it!

Then it became that I was having difficulty getting up in the mornings ...... not loving that!

Discussing the change in my sleeping habits brought forth the response – one of the ambulance men said as he was coming up the stairs (to see PJ) that he could smell gas!!
I promptly went round sniffing all appliances but could smell nothing .....
PJ phoned the gas people who sent an engineer round in about an hour ..... he tested every room..... no sign of gas.
Then he checked the meter in the pantry ...... definite leak.... quite a large one ..... all gas turned off .... like NOW.

He was very good, left us a detailed report to give to an engineer, a non returnable electric fan heater and checked we had an electric kettle to make hot drinks.

We contacted the engineer next day who came round at once and checked everywhere and said that it was probably caused by corroded pipes, which would need replacing!

So that’s where we are at the moment......
Access to boiler in craft room – clear.
Access to desk and craft equipment  - unavailable until further notice!!

I believe that the first month of 2019 will see me with a beautiful, sorted, cleaned and being-used craft room ..... and a safe gas free house!!!

In the meantime ...... I have shut the door!

Happy and Safe New Year to everyone.

  3. Hi Christine, wow, that could have been awful. So glad it's getting sorted. We had an old boiler on the stairwell wall at this house when we moved in, heaven alone knows how old it was. After a couple of years, we started getting headaches etc, like you. Like you, I always have at least one window open all the time, and a good job- we had the gas board out to do an annual service, and it was leaking co2! Needless to say, new heating required, and co2 detectors fitted! Scary, these things. Happy New Year, Hugs, Shaz #5 X

  4. Afternoon Christine. Oh my word - I am so pleased that the ambulance man was on the ball, so to speak. Now I wish you a very blessed new year - one that is gas-leak free, filled only with the love Father God has for you!!!!!!!!!! It's like everything is piling in at the moment, isn't it? Trust PJ will soon feel more like himself, too.
Take care, the pair of you. God bless.

  5. Oh dear! Lucky they caught the leak! My immediate reaction was to check if we haven't got a leak - then I remembered that we're not connected to mains gas here LOL. Hope everything will be back to normal soon and the rest of the year will shape up much better once this little obstacle gets sorted. zsuzsa #19

  13. Oh Christine, that was a bit close for comfort if you ask me. Thank goodness , THANK GOD, that PJ was being looked after by an ambulance man that recognised the smell of escaped gas. I hope the work can be done soon, yes, so that you can get back to your desk, but more so you can be warmed by more than a fan heater! But don’t worry, we’ll wait to see your art...just go on practicing those better sleeping habits without noxious substances please!

  16. Wowee Praise God the leak was detected in good time, and yes there are silver linings in that craft room tidy up, I’m doing that too. I’ve cleared two boxes in craft room, on,y one small one to go and tidied the envelope drawer which was chaotic!
Am glad you’re ok and PJ is mending, such a blessing indeed to meet you both at Llandudno. How blessed were we!
Every blessing of the LORD for you in 2019.
Happy belated WOYWW #500. Hugs Shaz in Oz.x #10
