The idea is not a new one - what's your desk look like? It's a bit like .... where do you live?
We gather here on a Wednesday and have a look round at everyone's desk and find out what everyone else is doing .... or not doing .... you get the idea. If you want to join in, do feel free .... take a photo of your workplace, add it to your Blog and link it up here. Julia won't mind ... more the merrier she says....
Thank you Julia ....
Today I am adding a different picture - I just found out the January is Thyroid awareness month and, having had this problem for a good many years, thought I would share.
My desk is still the same - hidden! lol
We now have a cupboard in the corner but the saga of the boiler (yes, it became a saga!) continues. We went a whole week without the Central Heating, and the Pantry, out of commission.... We had a lot of 'ding' meals, PJ learnt to cook using the microwave - very impressive - so we have survived and believe you me, survive was the word!! We managed to find two picnic plates on which to eat our meals from, our gas fire worked overtime and we spent a lot of time in bed!!!
But .....
....we are progressing .....
The pantry is finished and we are stacking all the 'pantry' things back in - again cleaning and reducing - so you see .... 'progress' ......
I can't get over how a lick of paint has changed my pantry, it is so much brighter and roomier.
The shelving has been cleaned and left. The covering is the original in as much as it was here when we moved in. Our idea was to refurbish the house back to 1935 state but, when PJ's job started taking him abroad, we had to change our plans. We are now leaving a 'nod' to the original owner, as and when we can.
The craft room has a cupboard ready to paint and use but we want to change things around a bit first..... and reduce the amount of stash ......
The 'airing' cupboard stood in the craft room and was falling down, we think it was part of the original building. Now there is a brand new cupboard in the same place, it will be smart and useful when it is finished completely.
So that's the state of affairs at the mo - quite a lot of progress considering the problem we had last week ...........
But today the sun is shining, the temperature outside is up to 8C and I have a pantry to restore!!
My Artworks to Inspire and encourage and. . . . a bit of this . . . . and . . . . a bit of that . . . .

I remember the old pantry of both Granny's and my Great Gran, does your have a stone slab too to keep certain foods cooler Christine?? I love how you are trying to keep a glimmer of it's existence still in place. I too only found out about Thyroid January a couple of weeks back, amazing how we are never told by our GP's. I was diagnosed with an under active Thyroid in 2005 and been on life long medication since. Nothing changes apart from blood tests every 6/12 months and Vitamin D once a year, some days can be very tiring especially when cold.. Yay to the sunshine today!!
ReplyDeleteHappy woyww, enjoy that pantry :)

Afternoon Christine. Oh.... green-eyed jealousy is rearing its head here - a PANTRY!!!!! Amazing how much more you can fit in one than in any amount of cupboards - and folks rip them out! Can't understand why. But goodness - what a lot is going on there in your home - I do trust you now have heating - it has certainly turned very cold again and I confess mine is doing overtime.
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourselves. God bless.

What a pain being without heating for this past week...brrrr. No wonder bed was the warmest place. And Ding meals are perfectly acceptable when there's no alternative! The only thing we kept from all our old camping stuff is the two burner stove, that's been useful so many times. I have Pantry Envy (so do many other WOYWWers by the looks of things!) enjoy having a refill.

You could do with my ski suit to keep you warm. Hope you have some portable heaters.
ReplyDeleteGosh a pantry - a blast from the past for me, they were so useful.
I had a nodule on my thyroid and had half of it taken out, have one on the remaining half but they just keep an eye on it. Didn't know about Thyroid January.
Hugs, Neet 8 xx
Hi Christine, blimey, it must have been very chilly! Good job with the pantry, such a useful thing. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #7 X
ReplyDeleteMy mum has a pantry (or larder) as she calls it and it is wonderful. What a nightmare your boiler being down this week when it was so cold. Take care and have a good week. With love and God Bless, Caro x (#27)
ReplyDeleteWow. I hope the heating is working properly now as it is definitely not the time of year to be without. The pantry looks so different. Good luck destashing and decluttering and being able to craft again soon Christine. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #4
ReplyDeleteHi Christine, I remember there being a pantry in two of the houses I lived in as a kid.
ReplyDeleteGlad your DIY projects are getting done.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Your freshly painted pantry looks transformed! Not a good time of year to be without heating! Helen #5
ReplyDeleteHi Christine, we have a space where the pantry was and it's now home to the washing machine and tumble drier and the cupboard under the stairs has become the pantry. I do like to make use of any available space. Sounds like you have been practicing survival methods, hope things are back to normal soon. Thanks for the visit to mine and happy woyww (what's left of it), sending hugs, Angela x17x
ReplyDeleteHi Christine you had me asking google what are ding meals? And of course auto correct changed it so it wasn’t ding but thankfully 😅 noticed this time.
ReplyDeleteYou’re freezing and I’m boiling we’ll not quite but certainly warm as was 30c today and humid plus. Love your pantryvery cute, and glad things are improving. Would love to pop over and say hi 😊

Oh and I’ve an underactive thyroid too, congenital. Xxx
DeleteWe had a pantry like that in one of our former houses and indeed... a dark, gloomy place that lit up when we painted it.. great job! I do hope your heater gets fixed soon, must not think of living without it right now (we have the same weather... grey, wet and 'watery' temperatures) Thanks for stopping by my blog the other day, happy ~belated~ woyww. Hug from Holland. Marit #20
ReplyDeleteYou've been busy, Christine! Pantry redo looks fab. Yes, paint is the least expensive way to really change a space. Creative Blessings! Kelly #32
