WOYWW - All the deets on how to link up etc. and, more importantly, why you should, can be found at the top of the page. Thank you Julia for hosting another week of fun and mayhem.
Lots of work going on here . . .
The Desk
I have some new stash . . . mainly dies although there were a couple of stamps. I am trying them all out before I put them away in my files. The dies are mainly outlines but some 'quilting' ones are included. I made a quilted card last week, took sooooo long to cut out all the little squares that when I saw these dies . . . well, just HAD to have them. I must say I'm very pleased with them so far.
I will be playing some more with them over the coming months, just so I can say I've used them!! lol
I have been looking through some of my magazines and am astounded at how many freebie stamps and dies and embossing folders are filed. I am wondering whether to leave them filed with the magazine or just file the relevant pages with the stamps . . . . at present each magazine is in a plastic sheet and the freebies are in a plastic sheet next to them . . . .. I am sure I could free up some folders and they would weigh less . . . . I mean . . what's going to happen to them in the long run . . . . skip more than likely . . .Any thoughts on this would be welcome, I have over a hundred magazines + stamps in large lever arch folders.
Thank you to all my visitors last week, I didn't manage to visit many desks . .
My screen this week is a photo taken by my friend Barbara in Oregon. She spotted plum trees on her morning walk . . . .
What beautiful blossom...there seems so many around here at the mo [not sure they do much for my hay fever sadly but I will make the best of them while they last]. Have a fun week.

That’s a beautiful pic of the blossom tree! All the hawthorns are bursting inthe hedgerows around here, it really is my favourite time of the year when everything just splurges! I sent you an email re the quilt last week, I hope you got it or it might have gone into your junk folder.

I popped over to your last week post ( smiled as your kids comments !! ) as I too didn't make the all the rounds. We had visitors/and lots of odd things happening ! I like your middle dies. I have the bottom one and it frustrates me as it won't cut sharp enough to release the papers. I can't believe Oregon has blossoms !! One state must have some good warmth. A mess over here with weather issues. I also noticed in Julia's post on photos you have a back up drive. Any info I can use/I need to do this. I was looking at a new home computer and it stated it won'T allow disk drives to connect. With my new phone I can't use the ones I have as the metal connectors are a different size...have to buy new. WELL not doing it. so my old one can't be used. Don't want that with a new computer as I have digital files saved on scan disks. You have a good week.
ReplyDeleteHi Christine, I'm no help really with the magazine organisation as I have thought about this for so long and still can't really make my mind up. I have some stamps and dies still in their magazine and some in a large box but I think storing them in a box with just the appropriate pages might be the best option to make more space. Nice photo too. Have a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x6x
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous photo from your friend.
ReplyDeleteI think I might ditch the magazines and just keep the relevant pages or you could photocopy the relevant pages and then redistribute the magazines whole. Sorry, that is all I can think of, I stopped saving the magazines and now I am giving the stamps away to new stampers at our club. I just have too much stuff.
Sorry that's not much use is it? Have a lovely week ahead.
Hugs, Neet 5 xx
Those dies look really useful. I have little heart ones which I use for fabric with my Cuttlebug. Old tech I know, but it works. x x Jo
ReplyDeleteMmmm what a question you pose! I have nowhere near as many magazines as you but last year I separated out the stamp sets and filed them loosely by theme. I have used them so much more since doing this. I don’t really use the magazine ideas that much but I guess if there was something you really wanted to do you could file the page with it. I.m currently going through all my mags and wondering if I ever looked at some of them - don’t recognise the projects!! Some of them have to go though, no room. Thanks for your visit, love n hugs Cindy xx
ReplyDeleteOur cherry blossom is on the verge of coming out too Christine. Have fun with all those dies - they sound useful. I have thrown out quite a few magazines recently - I don't have space to store them. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #4
ReplyDeleteI don't buy magazines any more as I haven't read the ones I have got... years worth! but the ones from Craft stamper I did take off the cover and.... probably threw in a box somewhere!! Not much help, sorry. Thanks for visiting Happy WOYWW . Helen #1
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blossoms. I went through my free magazine stamps, got rid of a load. I don’t keep the magazines unless there is anything helpful. Still have to get the whole box down to find anything though. Happy WOYWW. Angela #16
ReplyDeleteWell you could file the stamps with all your others and scan the relevant magazine pages if you really want to keep them and save space. I wouldn’t bother to keep them together because just by referring to the page and it’s samples you’ll know which stamp you need! I’ve got a draw full of the freebie magazine stamps too, use them quite often as small details and embellishment, but have to admit to not having saved a single magazine!
ReplyDeleteLoving the blossom pic, right now I’m really loving the magnolias dotted about, they seem to have times themselves perfectly this year!
Oh love the dies, my favourite craft item! Can't wait to see what you do with them. Sleep, what's sleep? Not great at the best of times, oh well, Hugs BJ#9
ReplyDeleteOh that tree! Stunning. Honestly, I have been madly tearing up magazines for a few years now, as I had so many hoarded they were running me out of my craft room. Once I sat down and looked thru them, even being more in the KEEP than the BIN column, I was still able to weed things down pretty well. I mean at my age I honestly know if a craft is something I will NEVER do (Quilling? Tatting? Just say NO) and can easily see what can go. *I* would tear out the page and have them in one binder, then store the stamp or die as you do. Maybe keep all the Mag one in a single binder? But then I am harsh when space must be made. Be interesting to see what you do in the end!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW (back to being late- ARRGGH!)

ooh lovely plum tree. Ah the joy of free dies and stamps, must admit I filed all freebies in old video boxes and on magnetic sheets and then gave the magazines to charity shops, I find there is a ton of inspiration and instruction videos on line easily enough. Mind you I am almost getting to that stage with all my gardening magazines and free seeds too!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my desk already
