WOYWW #390

This is What'sOnYourWorkdeskWednesday - if you want to find out more then checkout the WOYWW tab at the top of the page - and our thanks go to Julia for hosting this weekly meet up.

Woo!  Hoo!  Three days to go to 2016 Crop!!

I don't have a photo of a desk to share with you today.
Storm Angus blew over this country and, being in the Midlands, we caught the tail end. Everything is alright now, no panic, we are drying out thank goodness, much of our mess is being/can be dried.

I had heard the wind and the rain during the night but was just thankful for being warm and dry whilst sending up a small prayer for those who were suffering through this storm.
On Monday morning when I went into the back lounge ....... devastation!
Thankfully all the water was in the extension, buckets, saucepan, plant covers came in very useful as the water came in through the ceiling.  I always keep a small stash of newspapers in my 'Studio' and they were brought downstairs to use.
Needless to say the rug was soaked and is drying out in the garage!  My poor piano was soaked at one end but I have managed to dry that out.  Papers are soaking up the rest of the water but all has to stay now until I know for certain that the storm has well and truly passed over.
I have Little Soldier today so tomorrow I will start to clear and tidy on Thursday.
At least the floor has had a good wash!!!

Further to my oven photos last week .....

.... my first cake was a success, thought you might like a few photos .....

..... I bought the baking tin from Betterware and can cook three flavours at once, usually plain for SIL, Ginger or Fruit for PJ and Carraway Seed for me e e e e.

I love my cooker ..... did I tell you?   lol

Have a good week, I'll see some of you at the weekend, others ..... next week.  :-)

  2. Oh my goodness, so sorry you got caught up in the storm. We've had lots of rain here but it wasn't too bad. Rain water is much better than flood water, so you were lucky there - it will just nicey dry out now. Your cakes look yummy! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #22

  3. Oh Em Gee! I am so sorry to hear about the flood you experienced. Must have been terrifying to be in bed listening to such terrible wind and rain and then to wake to that. Glad your piano was ok in the end as that could have been expensive. Hope you get things back to normal soon.
    Baking looks yum yum!
I see from Shaz you are going on Saturday - hope you have a wonderful time.

  9. Oh blimey Christine, I am sorry to hear that you had a flood problem. Goodness, it rained so hard...I was concerned about your piano, let's hope it'll dry out ok and not be affected.
That cake tin is handy, wish I'd had that when my boys were at home and wanting different flavours!!

  11. What a mess! You seem to be hanging in there though, a good attitude and a sense humor can get you through anything! And I like how you look for the silver lining - that you now have a clean floor! Your piano looks a lot like mine, and that cake pan is totally awesome! Hope you dry out soon, Thanks for sharing! 13. Gosh, having a leak is no fun is it? Our central heating leaked on Monday but thankfully only in the workshop. Had to get hubby home from work early to stem the flow which was from a worn out rubber washer. The dehumidifier came in handy down there for a few days I can tell you. Hope your problem in sorted and won't happen again. Thanks for visiting me BJ#33

  14. Happy Belated WOYWW. Oh no. We had a small wet patch appear upstairs because of a blocked gutter. Sent hubby up a ladder and that solved the problem. The weather was horrendous here in Pembrokeshire. I hope that is the worst storm we will get this winter. Ali x #32
