WOYWW #417

What'sOnYourWorkdeskWednesday - if you want to find out more then checkout the WOYWW tab at the top of the page - and our thanks go to Julia for hosting this weekly meet up.

Thank you all for such a wonderful gathering last week, I tried to visit as many as I could while holding a celebratory coffee in my hand!!
I have received some wonderful cards, shown below, and thank you one and all ...... I know that there are more to arrive yet .........
I am linking up this am but will update the posting later.  I am running late this morning, I did not schedule this post as I was soooo busy yesterday, so am keeping it short and sweet for the moment.
Julia, Lynne, Margaret
BJ, LLJ and Shaz

Will pop back later to complete the post .......

I am back!
We have been to visit a Chicken Hotel this morning.  The hotel we used last year has closed for business but PJ has managed to find another one so off we went to look at it.
We collected Little Soldier and went out into the countryside, love the English Countryside.  On the way back from the Hotel we stopped at a canalside pub for lunch and had a beautiful meal, watched the boats go past...... so restful we didn't want to leave but Little Soldier needs his sleep still.  He is down to an hour a day now but that time allows me to visit a few desks so it is very precious.
I have received the above celebration cards and I know that there are several still in transit.  I am going to make a few more so if you still want to swap with someone .... let me know and I will send one out to you (once completed!)
My cardmaking has been on hold this last week as our Plasterers were in sorting out our bathroom, a grand job has been done there and soon they will be back to start on the kitchen ...... I hope that the decorators will be able to 'follow' them around the house, fixing and painting ......... that's my hope!
Now I am off to visit as many desks as I can until Little Soldier wakes up ........

May Theme

Butterflies!!
Three different cards and techniques.

I used a piece of wall paper sample for the background and added a bought butterfly from stash with a paper ribbon sentiment.

Another piece of wallpaper, gloriously coloured and shiny.  I found a 3D butterfly in matching colours in my stash .... how lucky is that!

I printed the sentiment, edged it with blue ink and attached it along the left side of the card.

A small piece of butterfly paper formed a background for the card.  I added some glaze to a couple of the butterflies (still wet and white) then found a Tim Holtz sentiment which I cut to size and spread across the page.

I received the following cards:

Beautifully collaged.
Thank you Mel.

Beautiful and Pink!
Thank you Pat.

3D with wires .... on pink...
Thank you Margaret.

May Colour Swap

This month's colour is Cream.

I have a box of cream ribbons & laces and a box of cream embellishments, just empty takeaway boxes from our local Chinese takeaway, so this was an easy one for me.  A selection of cream papers and off we go.........

I used a cream wallpaper on this card and added a length of lace and some small crochet flowers.  I found a length of overprinted cream ribbon so added that down the left side of the card.

I wrapped the lower right hand corner of this card with a length of cream net and secured it with two lengths of cream ribbon, one slightly narrower and overprinted.  i used one of the thin wooden tiles in the top right hand corner.

I saw a similar card on Pinterest and thought I would have a try at CASeing it.
I used a quite thick textured paper on this card, the sentiment was stamped using one from a set given away free with a  magazine.  I stamped the pot, also from the same set, watercoloured it and then fussy cut it and attached it along the lower edge.  I attached the ribbons to indicate stems and then attached the buttons securely.

I have received the following cards:

If you look very carefully you will find a delicious tiny embossed flower....
Thank you Iona.

Love this spotty sausage dog with silver pawprints around the edge.
Thank you Gwyneth Rose.

Beautifully printed and cut fashions on net.
Thank you Kathleen.

WOYWW #416

Happy Anniversary Julie and everyone!!
So pleased to be here and sharing with everyone......
I have been sorting through my stamps for some butterfly ones for this month's theme on UKStampers.
I found this adorable card and so wanted to CASe it as I knew that, deep in the depths of my craftroom, I had some very old wooden stamps which would give me the same sort of background.
So here is my desk .......

I have stamped out several backgrounds for my ATCs and am now trying to decide which butterflies will go where!
The usual clutter surrounds the workspace .........
As it is the Anniversary week, the 'pink lady' is putting in an appearance ...... two are spoken for, another will go to my 'partner' which leaves me with 5 ......... if you would like to swap with me, get in quick!!  lol
I hope to get back online before the week is out .... today is extra busy as I have to fit in a hairdressing appointment, my hairdresser has to attend a funeral so rearranged the appointment so I couldn't really change it to another day ......ho hum!  such is life!

Have a good day everyone, let me know if you would like to swap and I will see what I can do.......

Winey ohs!
You shouldn't discriminate against which grapes your wine is made from because wine doesn't discriminate who drinks it.

Wine must only be consumed on days of the week with and "a" in them.

April Colour Swap

The swap theme this month is to use your least favourite colour ...... yellow!
Now I love yellow daffodils, forsythia, kerria deutschia..... flowers .... yes!  Maybe a bright front door, but my colour of choice?  No!!

After much thought I decided to start with a Gelli Plate print and printed off a steampunk design.  I then cut this A4 print into several ATC sized pieces and put them to one side.  I gathered together several embellishments and settled down to work.

I added some bright yellow diecuts, forming an abstract flower.

I added a heart diecut to the next card but tipped the end into a diecut orange wreath.

I framed this card with two lengths of ribbon and added a few yellow butterflies.

I smooshed some yellow DI onto some Tim Holtz sentiments and added them to the cards to complete the look.

I received the following cards:

Really bright orange!
Thank you JanS.

Collaged together beautifully.
Thank you Kathleen.

                                           Super watercolour scene, love it.
                                         Thank you BarbaraB.

May Swap

I have just discovered Dylusions Stamps - some of them are just so funky!!!  I just had to use them on these cards for the May Swap.

I used a piece of pre-painted paper, left over from another set of cards.  I added some stencil work using copper Sharpie and some Blue Distress ink.

I then stamped, coloured and fussy cut the cat and sentiment.  Once the image was secured I edged the card with a blue Distress Ink..

Don't you just like the bow tie?

Painted background to the fore, this one has been stencilled and sprayed.  I added some brown stencilled butterflies and splodges.
I then stamped, coloured and fussy cut the cat and sentiment, outlining the sentiment words with a black fine pen.  I also outlined the edges of the card with a copper Sharpie pen.

Loved this sentiment so just had to colour it in bright pink ... to match the hair of course!!!
So out came my watercolour pencil in bright pink!  I added some sploshes with bright pink Distress Ink and then fussy cut the image.  I outlined the sentiment words with a black fine pen and this was followed by outlining the edges of the card with a bright pink sharpie.

I love these cards and am very pleased with the way they turned out.

I received these cards by return:

A beautiful floral picture with gemstones +
Pearlised card with embossed borders and gem stones +
Tag with charm.
Super cards.

Thank you JanS.

April Theme Swap

Beautiful Flowers - choice is left up to the players.
I selected several images from my stash and, using watercolour pencils, coloured up the designs.
I selected some text papers and adhered them to some base cards, rounded the corners and put them to one side for later.

I fussy cut the first image and attached it to the card.  I smooshed the sentiment with a pale bamboo DI and attached it across the top of the card.

I fussy cut the next image and attached to the background paper with a sentiment coloured up as before.

I cut the next image into three parts, and attached them across the card.  I used a brown sentiment strip this time along the side of the card.

I received the following cards:

Beautiful watercolour with peel off frame.
Thank you Margaret.

Layered up roses.
Thank you Kate.

                                                         Stamping with collaged papers.
                                                                     Thank you SueF.

WOYWW #415

Hello there from a cold and rainy Tolkien Country!
Will we let this rain dampen our spirits!
NO! We won't!

We are off to Birmingham Sea Life Centre today to celebrate a birthday ........

What's that I hear?  Two already?  'Fraid so.....

This morning I am joining up with Fellow Deskers, courtesy of Hostess with the mostest Julia - see tab at top of page for more information, and then after the celebration as above, I shall be back to visit later .......
The desk is covered with cards, all finished and now being readied to post off ..... look out Royal Mail!

So ya'll have a good day, laugh and chat with one another and I'll join in later .....

Couple of thoughts:
Wine is 'win' with an 'e' in it.
99.932% of the world's problems can be solved after drinking a glass (or three) of wine.

You have mail .....

... well, me actually!
I received an email from Creative Stamping on Wednesday to say that I had won a prize .... £50 to spend at Craft Stash.
I went into shock .. I have never won anything in my life!
I read and reread the email ...... then took a trip over to Craft Stash ...... one of my favourite stores..... and placed an order.
I placed everything I fancied into my basket and then whittled it down to £50 worth..... took me about two hours but what a wonderful two hours!
After I hit the checkout button I discovered that if the order went through before 15.00hrs it would be sorted that day .... it was now 15.17hrs..........
I received my prize THIS morning .. how's that for service?!?!
What an exciting three days ..... I am jumping up and down... frequently ....... big smile on my face ......

The prize ......
I chose three dies and four matching stamps plus some sentiment stamps.
To be honest, I had lots of fancy stuff in my basket and then found the Island Blooms stamp. When I went in for further details, Craft Stash mentioned that the stamp co-ordinates with Sumatra Die so I had a look at that.  In the end I had sorted out three dies with matching stamps, and there's more yet if I decide to have birthday presents ......
Now I have to exercise self control as I have a busy day tomorrow but come Sunday..........

April Swap

I wanted to use one of my Mother's day pressies again so stamped up a nice big flower.

I stamped onto some prepainted paper and then used Promarkers, Sharpies and watercolours to colour up the flower.
I coloured the sentiment strip and attached it along the lower edge.

I bought some cardboard letters from Works some time ago and this seemed a good time to use one of them.  I Gessoed the letter and left it to dry.  I stamped the background stamp onto a spare piece of paper and then stamped the letter.  I matched the patterns and then attached the letter to the paper.  Using Promarkers I coloured up the letter and parts of the border.  I attached the paper and cut to size, then attached the sentiment along the lower edge.

I stencilled one of my small stencils onto a patterned paper.  Then added a Dylusion Stamp bird and sentiment, outlined both with a blue pen, which I also used to edge the card.

I received the following cards:

Love all the glitter papers

Thank you Pauline.

WOYWW #414

This is What'sOnYourWorkdeskWednesday - if you want to find out more then checkout the WOYWW tab at the top of the page - and our thanks go to Julia for hosting this weekly meet up.

What I want to know is where does the time fly to?   Don't seem like five minutes since I last wrote a WOYWW post!

First off I would like to say a big 'THANK YOU' to all my visitors last week and all your kind comments.
Secondly- I am sorry if I didn't visit your Blog..... seems like the usual story ..... too much to do and too little time to do it in!!!

There hasn't been much work done this week in this craft room as we have spent some time clearing another room and part of the garden.  No evenings spent on the laptop as we have our tea, watch the news and then off to bed..... can't seem to get enough of the sleep thing!!

So here's the desk...... Anniversary ATC paperwork ready for creating a wonderful ATC!!!
I have stacked all the papers, images, card etc as I don't want to give anything away .... I shall make nine (9) so if you want to get your orders in I'll start a list!!!  Remembering that I can only swap eight, one is reserved for my 'follower'.

The usual detritus surrounds the work area, the tiny Tippex teardrop to the right was used in my address book - updating both daughters' addresses in the old address book.  Small bottles of paint for Little Soldier's book are waiting to be opened and used.  Why there is a packet of sewing needles on there ........... suggestions in a plain envelope ..... clean ones only!

I shall try to pop round the desks later, depends when and where Little Soldier goes to sleep.

WOYWW #413

What'sOnYourWorkdeskWednesday - if you want to find out more then checkout the WOYWW tab at the top of the page - and our thanks go to Julia for hosting this weekly meet up.

Sorry about my desk - just a dumping ground today I'm afraid - and you get to see an uncropped photo!!
We had a 'share' day at CRUNCH yesterday and I managed to get several stamps sets and then went shopping in our local village so picked up a magazine with more freebies.  I like Debbie Moore Designs so I know I am getting good value.
To the right of the picture is an Asda booklet (somewhere else I went yesterday!), which I like to pick up for the recipes.  I shall have a tidy up tomorrow, and possibly paint a few more pages of Little Soldier's latest book, which you may be able to see peeping out from under all the freebies!
I am hoping to make him a 'Thomas the Tank Engine' book for his birthday, i am painting pages at the moment.
That's it then, late today and I have to go now as Little Soldier is waking up.....
catchya all later..........
