Yes, on all counts for me ........
I spent Christmas Eve with DDN. We opened presents .... then friends joined us for pre evening drinks and canapes .... while they all went on to the evening's entertainment, we came home and watched tv in the comfort in our home.
Christmas Day was spent over at Little Soldier's house .... nuff zed? Lots of love and laughter ..... long time since we have had such a wonderful day. Took me right back to when our children were smaller.......
But you're here to see my desk -nothing on there at the mo but it looked like this earlier ......
What is it?
It's the other side of this ......
Which, before wrapping, looked like this ......
Which, after unwrapping, looked like this .....
I videoed DDC as she opened up this present but lost all the photos.....typical but believe me, her face made all the effort worth while!
The actual figures belonged to my Mother and are treasured by DDC. Every year she brings them out and says - wish I had a stable for them ......I've looked all over and no luck ...
This year the look on her face galvanised me into action, no more years searching for a stable, I was making one!!!
I had some squares of thick cardboard in my stash - as one does! Using parts of the 'surprise present' as a template, I cut the pieces for the building so that they would slot together. I printed out some wood effect papers, glued them to the cardboard and then attached some 'greenery' I managed to purchase from my last minute shopping spree. I really didn't think I would manage to get it into a usable state on time .... did you know that sometimes glue can take 'a g e s' to dry!! lol
Really made my Christmas ..... along with my gorgeous pressies and Little Soldier's first understanding of Father Christmas!
Next time we meet up at Chez Julia's it will be 2018 ..... and it will be all downhill to summer!!!
I pray that the good Lord will bless each and everyone of you with health, peace, love and joy during this coming year.
Hi Christine, great job there. Waiting for glue to dry is a bit of 'a watched pot' thing, I think. The sooner you need it, the longer it takes! Have the rest of a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #13 XxX
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful stable and a lovely idea - shame you lost the photos - but you have them in your mind. I am waiting for modelling paste to dry... it's only been 2 minutes and I'm bored already! Helen #1
ReplyDeleteHi Christine, what a great idea. The finished stable is the perfect setting for those figures. Happy New Year and here's to meeting up again in 2018. Sarah #14
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant idea, Christine! It looks awesome - and the fact that you made it, makes it extra special! And just the right size for those figures. I don't blame you for going back home to watch telly instead of partying on Christmas Eve - that's my preference as well! Best wishes for the coming year! zsuzsa #19
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and thoughtful gift you made. Certainly kept me guessing as it was unfolding.
ReplyDeleteBet you did enjoy the time with Little Soldier. Children make Christmas perfect! They are what it is all about these days.
Have a Wonderful Year Ahead - Hugs, Neet xx
Hi Christine, the stable looked great! How special. I loved watching the faces of my three grandchildren unwrap their presents. But mostly I love the precious family time when we all get together. Have a wonderful new year, and best wishes for 2018, Heather #17

ReplyDeleteGorgeous stable, how special. Glue is like lots of things, they always take longer when you're in a hurry for them. Have a great woyww and best wishes for the New Year. Angela x12x
ReplyDeleteThe stable is beautiful, Christine! Well done. Thank you so much for your beautiful comment and all your kind thoughts and prayers and tears (so touching) as we go through such a difficult time at the moment. I really appreciate it, and sorry to be so long replying. It's been really crazy here... We just hope for better things in 2018 and somehow we'll get through it all.

ReplyDeleteHello Christine, I am so happy to have found your blog. You got me with, "I am at an age when I have to ask - If I can't do it now ... when can I do it" . . . you're a girl after my own heart. Only my days are numbered in a much larger digit than your's, LOL. I'm not going to get old until I'm at lease 90 . . . and then I'll just give it some thought.
