WOYWW #579

Not much to show here today.   My desk is like this . . . .

I am sitting sorting through boxes and this one happens to contain magazines . . . with Freebies.  I am enjoying my self separating the freebie instruction pages along with the freebie and then putting them in a folder.

I've been poorly but entirely my own fault so I don't want/need sympathy!!  I am allergic to white flour, this was discovered many years ago after an Allergy Test.  I regulate my white flour intake and rarely eat more than one biscuit's worth a day.
PJ has a craving for chips, his favourite food but one he is not encouraged to have.  In fact I have thrown out the chip pan but, alas, I discovered it had only moved into the garage, 'just in case'.   We tried oven chips but  . . . .no, not for us.
Now if you're trying to lose weight, eat less fat, then do NOT read the next paragraph.

I received an email from Lidl which included the news that they had on sale a mini fryer.  I investigated, we only needed a one portion size and  . . . . this looked like it!!  Off to Lidl we went, masked up and obeying the rules (not that there were many who did), straight down the middle,  you know, Middle of Lidl and all that!  There it was, the Mini Fryer!

It is sooooo suitable for us.  One potato, chipped equals two portions.
So there you have it and there were we . . . .had to try it  . . . .double egg and chips for me chuck . . . . oh! and some bread and butter!   No pictures as we were concentrating on the food.
This is the standout English meal, basic.  It was a most delicious meal.  Simple, easy and such a long time since we had any chips . . . the butty was the best!
But you see we followed this with a Strawberry Jam Sandwich . . . . white bread again . . .  My only excuse is  . . . .it had been such a loooong time since we had either, we had been very good . . .
So I have been really poorly ever since!!!  My own fault.  I know.  And the meal was sooooo worth suffering for . . . . really.
BUT IT WILL BE A LONG TIME BEFORE I DO IT AGAIN!!!  lol

Anyhoos, you haven't come about that . . . . but . . . that's why my desk is so . . . of course I am having to read the magazines first . . .

My Thanks go to Julia at Stamping Ground for enabling so many desks and lifestyles to be shared each week.  Thank you.

  1. Hi Christine, you poor thing I hope you're feeling better soon as that sounds nasty. You must have to be very careful about what you eat. Funnily enough I've been doing the same thing with the freebie stamps and stuff so they're all in one place and I can find them when I want to use them. Have a lovely and productive WOYWW, Angela x15x

  2. It's so rotten when the very thing yuou'd really like to eat is the one thing that upsets you like that. Sigh.... the mini fryer was a good deal though, I have to keep G away from the Middle of Lidl, lol!! Glad you're enjoying having a good sort out of those freebies, a satisfying task.

  3. Oh no, that sounds horrid - I hope you feel better soon. I love the tropical themed freebie stamps, keep up the good work with the sorting - it will be great having them organised.
    Have a good week,

  4. aww Sorry you have been poorly - i know you don't want sympathy but we are only human. I got rid of my fryer but then bought an air frier that only uses a tablespoon of oil - i put it up high on a shelf , i need a step ladder to reach it , so dont use it very much - but being a sugar a holic , has made no difference to my increasing waistline!! Have a fab week . soojay #19

  6. Oh Christine, sorry you've been poorly, but double egg & chips- I'd go for that too! We used to go to a cafe in Birmingham, down a side street by the Latif warehouse, you could get a lovely egg & chip bap! Oh now I'm hungry, lol. Stay safe, have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #5 X

  7. I have similar boxes but I'm pretty sure I already retrieved the freebies. I know that many of the mags are so old I wouldn't find anything inspirational now but when I get around to it I'm sure I will need to read them again to make doubley sure ;-) Have a wonderful week, Lisa-Jane #16

  8. Why are all the nice tasting food so bad for us :( we are partial to double egg and chips ourselves but I make my own chips now since hubby had his heart attack. Peeled, par boiled then oven cooked with a sprinkle of what ever seasoning you fancy to coat them whilst cooking. Hope it doesn't take you too long to recover from it.. Take care Tracey #12

  9. Hope you are feeling better soon Christine even if self inflicted. We have an Actifry but the other half still prefers to use the fryer! I must admit that chips aren't the same now i am not allowed to add salt though! Stay safe and happy belated WOYWW. Sarah #1

  10. My thanks to you for the gorgeous birthday card, so sweet of you to bother, Self inflicted or not, I’m sorry you’ve been poorly - and I also totally understand why once in a flood you have to let yourself do it. I agree, there’s nothing like egg and chips and a slice. Food of Great Britons!! So a gentle sort out of some freebies and their mags is a good idea, and it’ll set you off with lots of ideas which is never a bad thing!

  11. Oh my goodness what a food allergy, sometimes wish I was allergic to food as I seem to be piling on the pounds and with as bad back and shoulder, exercising is difficult. Hope you are enjoying the mag sorting.PS Fritillaries are certainly not weeds! BJ#24

  12. Hi Christine. Oops! Yes, I understand about allergies!! Hope the reaction has pretty much gone now. Great idea to sort the magazines and their freebies - and OF COURSE you needed to read each mag - you didn't want to miss anything important, did you??
Take care. Stay safe. God bless.
