Our weekly meetup of show & tell workdesks ...... love this little get together every week..... in the comfort of our own homes ..... come and join us ..... our Hostess Julia (deets at the top of the page) won't mind - I'm sure she'd say 'more the merrier' so come on in .....

Good desk this week!!!

I have started!!
Yep!
I have everything together - cards, stamps, envelopes, paper for inserts, even selection of pens!!
So it's going to start .... at the weekend probably ..... that's about when this layout will annoy me enough into to 'doing it'.
All my other jobs are done, one set of swaps posted off, one more nearly finished, one still to do but ......still eight days to go to the end of November ...... did you see that?  Eight days!
I still have get my kitchen finished, for a 6ft square room it is taking ages - two months already!
I have another quote now which I have accepted we just wait the arrival of the painter .....this will be the fourth one who has either looked and/or quoted ..... would be nice to have some order in the house for Christmas!
Thank you to all my visitors last week, I think I managed to visit the majority of desks, arriving late as I did it took up most of the week.
The garden looks gorgeous, the car is shining and a bonus of a repaired garage makes me smiling again..... just don't look at the desk!

Smashing desk this week!!
I'm actually making embellishments for Christmas Cards!  I have several 'recycled' cards made ready to be finished off so I am still feeling happy - wish I had time to start my homemade pressie though - but prioritise I must as we begin this countdown to Christmas .......The idea with these particular embellishment is to form a 'fan' ..... I know ..... sounds daft but should work!
I must add that I have been so busy in the garden as I have a big bag of bulbs to plant; so everyday for the past week we have been gradually clearing the weeds round the roses and planting the bulbs, just a few more to go ......
I am spending the odd half hour here and there to make the cards ... I am getting there, honestly!!
That's my post for this week, will try to get round to visit a few more desks this week ..... only managed a few last week, thanks to all my visitors who didn't give up on me!

This desk has a 'completed' feel about it at the moment of taking this photo!

You will note that in the centre of the desk is a 'projects completed' basket, a present from Elizabeth while at the Crop, with three - yes! three! - projects in it.
I have 3 ATCs for the November swap plus 12 days of Christmas ATCs wrapped plus completed Matchbox.
Definitely a good feeling!

Well, that was last night!

Today I have a happy and exciting desk!
This is the makings of a Christmas Present for DDC.
I always make something handmade in among the bought pressies for the children and this is going to be hers this year.  Can't tell you yet, so excited to start, having to wait..... I think I will need a complete weekend for this ..........

Happy, happy dancing round here!!!

I do so hope that you are having a good day, even with all the rain and cold out there.  I am sending hugs and happy thoughts and prayers for you if you're not 100%...... I know how it is...... but look at my desk!  wow!  dance with me!

It was all lies last week ..... just the start of the post anyways ....

The desk
It is not the same as last week because I have put the lid back on the box and added some more stamps!!!
No cards made though ...... there in lies the lie ......
I cannot believe that it is a week gone by already - I haven't stopped!
Mainly because last week was taken up with preparing for the weekend Open Day at Tyseley (check out Ben Mason's Post).
Another wonderful day out among the Steam Engines!
This week so far Little Soldier has taken up most of our time..... and will continue for another day .......I'm not complaining but I really do need to craft!
Keeping this short and sweet as 'they' say .... will try to catch up with you all later.
Enjoy!

PS Cannot believe it is 1st November ...... already?...... how did that happen?!!

OK!  I'll admit it ..... I am going to make a start ....
Start on what do I hear you say .......
.....this ......
I have opened one of the boxes!
Yes!
That's right!
Lost for words aren't you?!
So am I ..... but I must make a start ... I've signed up for a Christmas swap .....
But I have to say ..... it's very exciting as I haven't seen the inside of these boxes since last Christmas!!!
It's like having a small shop all of my own ..... think I'll sit and look at it all for a bit longer!

BTW - the scaffolders came and then the next day, the roofers came.
Mark and Luke (the scaffolders) were a bit shocked at the way everything had been left, really spent some time resetting the guttering, fascia and sofit.  AND THEY PUT AN END PIECE ON TO THE GUTTERING!!!
They did a really good job and I am thrilled with the work but now we are waiting for the surveyor to came and pass it....
No flooding since even though we have had so much rain.  Can't wait for the scaffolding to come down.

Good to have some good news for a change ....

October Colour Swap

Autumnal Colours
I was stuck for ideas until I saw this post on Gecko Galz Blog so had to visit the Blog concerned.

I purchased the papers that Electra recommended, they're digital, and went to printing.  These papers were great to work with and I was spoilt for choice, I printed and cut and spread them out on my desk and slowly pulled them into some sort of order!

I loved the little boy on Electra's third card so that's where I started.
I used the sunflower paper for background, the beauty of digital papers is that you can resize the images.  I edged the little boy image with blue and attached it with a 3D pad.
Tim Holtz's words are 'enough'.

The fairies had to be used, they were edged with a deep red ink and decoupaged onto the centre of the background paper.  I smooshed some 'autumnal' colour inks across the sentiment .... guess where from?!?! lol

I just love Art Deco so this image was a 'must use'.
I edged the lady image with black, the circle with gold and the whole card with brown ink. Decoupaged it all onto the background and realised I hadn't left room for the sentiment.  I trimmed the words and managed to fit them onto the card.  Hurrah! for Tim Holtz spacing!

I love this image of a couple having fun in the leafy wind.  I edged this image with red ink and popped it onto the centre of the leaf background with a 3D pad.   I placed the smooshed sentiment across the lower edge to finish.

My swapped cards came in a variety of themes:

This leaf is diecut from foam - brill idea.
Thank you GwynethRose.

Love these shiny toadstools.
Thank you Mel.

Beautiful coloured peel off.
Thank you Philippa.

October Swap

Using papers from stash - may have been free with a magazine - I cut out three oblongs slightly small than ATC size.
I attached these to plain cards - probably cut from Cinamon Toast Cereal box (my fave at the mo) - and put them to one side to dry.

I stamped these absolutely fantastic images - stamps from Julia, it has been hard waiting to use them!! - fussy cut them out and then coloured just hats and left them to dry.
When they were dry I attached them to the backgrounds with 3D foam tape so they stood proud.
I added my sentiments plain and flat to the lower edge, I want nothing to detract from my beautiful gals!

I have had a fine selection by return.

Lots of diecut hearts on a lipstick background.

A small wooden owl on a painted background.

Inked seagulls on an inked background.
Love these cards.
Thank you so much GwynethRose.
