Wrapped up nice and warm today cos it's COLD! My heart cries for the folk stuck up North on, near or around the M74 .... I cannot imagine the awfulness of it.
The nearest I ever came was once when the electrics on PJ's truck stopped while just south of Paris. We had to pull onto an Aire de and, if you have travelled in France, you will know that it is a basic parking area. Well, it was New Year's Eve and we were stuck there for three days .... most places shut down, we had to wait for someone to come out from England to repair the truck. It was a cold and lonely three days, stuck in a 6ft x 6ft cab with toilet facilities a few yards away in the snow!!! We had really good sleeping bags thankfully, as up in the Alps it could be really cold at night, but this time we had no heating ..... fully dressed in a sleeping bag with extra clothes on top .... we couldn't even cuddle as we were in bunk beds!!! lol I don't envy any folks stuck in snow.
But enough ....
You're here to see my desk......
I am about to make a start on a white on white card for one of this month's swaps. I am going to use this embossing folder - something I don't use very often - but this came free with a magazine, Crafters Inspiration No 15.
Underneath the papers, there's some stamps - free with the final copy of Quick Cards, so sad - which I have yet to file.
On the left there are the papers drying ready to make a 'New Beginnings' ATC.
This is an additional make for the month because one person entered the swap and she needed a partner.
Thank you for all your comments last week on my latest purchases, thought you might like a couple of shots of 2017 Christmas' layout.
Hastily created as we were so close to Christmas!
Not very good photos but they keep me going all through the year and add to the excitement as the new Christmas gets nearer........
such a child!!! lol
We are thinking of making something better for next year than a piece of batting over the fire!!
Once again, thank you for your visits and lovely comments.
I hope to visit later today because when we come home from Stay and Play, we have a new Thomas sticker book to play with .... it's all go round here you know ...... all the best fun!!
Happy WOYWW. I love a white on white design. Great Christmas photos. It all seems so long ago! Ali x #22
ReplyDeleteOh, I don't know, I like the batting over the fireplace actually - it works really well as a 'snowy mountain'! I do love your model village with all the different houses, it looks wonderful! You must have spent a very cold and miserable three days in that truck - I hadn't realised about the poor people being stuck on the M74. Goodness, no wonder the Mountain rescue team was sent out.

Hi Christine, I bought that Crafters Companion folder last year at the NEC, it's called 'Ornate Lace'. If you get a chance, try it on Black cardstock, and add some gilding wax on the raised parts. That was what sold me on them, it looks amazing. Lovely photos of your Christmas decorating.Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #8 XxX
ReplyDeleteI love the batting, looks right to me.
ReplyDeleteGosh the snow incident sounds horrendous! I am over in America so not realising how the snow is at home. Just hope all are safe and well.
Hugs, Neet 12 xx
