HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL!

Welcome to the last What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday for 2018 .......

In celebration my post is mainly photos and less talking!  Ha!  Believe that you believe anything!!!

My desk in all the glory of the aftermath of Christmas morning!

yes!
still crafting on the Day.
I was actually adding a few sequins and diamantes to the homemade tree decorations for the girls, a tradition in our house.  There was a sharp change of plan when I discovered a die bought waaaayyyy back in March!  Trees had to be made even though there was only two days to go ..... diecut, punch the bits out ...... glue all folded parts together ......... oops! It's Christmas, never mind .... stick a few sequins on and pack them up ..... no time for photos ........
Here's another tree instead......

..... and to the left ......

..... and to the right ......

..... my Christmas Village is almost complete ....... the tram running along in front will be an alpine tram next year ..... hopefully ......

...... and there's more ...... I am pleased that my little bit of artwork survived the loft and is lit up outside our house!

We had such a wonderful Christmas Day - much Carolling, much hugs and laughter, much food, two special little boys and their toys, much opening of pressies and no photos!!
Well, maybe one....

WOYWW #498

WOYWWAll the deets on how to link up etc. and, more importantly, why you should, can be found at the top to the page.  Thank you Julia for hosting another week of fun and mayhem.

Another exciting and different week here .... not exciting and slowly becoming the norm .......
Let us start with PJ.... (beware - bit gory photos following)

No desk pictures this weekend, he's been a tad busy trying to repair small engines (don't mention Thomas!), going out for trips, getting ready for Christmas etc .....

Oh! and falling down .....yes! ..... again!.......

No bones broken this time but a frightening time for me.  He fell this time just outside the back door while I was inside preparing the tea (see following) and I never heard a thing......
The resulting graze to the head, sore hand and grazed knee (protected by trousers) didn't seem too bad........
Grazed and swollen
......so he came inside and sat down for a clean up and rest.

VERY  swollen

Later on when changing for bed, I looked at his knee.....

..... that looks broken to me ..... time for 111 again.

Several hours later, with knee swelling and the bruise colouring up ...... we were off to the A&E.....

By now it is 00.40hrs, the acci happened at 18.00hrs so the knee and head looked technicoloured!
The Department was absolutely rammed with beds double parked.  I felt so, so sorry for the staff......... we were moved to the waiting room and he was assessed eventually (about 03.30hrs with a comment "why have you waited till now?"!!!!!) and then told to wait back in the waiting room.
At about 06.50 there were four patients left to be seen, the emergency entrance had cleared and filled several times, so I went through to see the original nurse to ask how much longer we would wait as we had been up since 07.00hrs the previous day ......
Doctor Singh arrived full of apologies, examined the knee, sent us to XRay, diagnosed no broken or chipped bones but severe bruising which would bring with it a lot of pain - Bless!!
Good Colours and a blister
We were out in half an hour ...... six hours waiting for 30mins of the Dr's time.  I am speechless but I have to say that the emergency department was so very frantic at times, it felt like we were in a major catastrophe.  Those poor staff... some patients were very vocal, smelly, drunk, refusing help, in Police Custody, such an assortment and the STAFF .....deserve medals each and every one of them.  How they remained so calm and polite.......

PJ has rested his knee, doing exercises whilst sitting down.......he is on the mend now and will be back to constructing his engine soon!!

My desk, needless to say, is a bit chaotic, having had all sorts thrown at it .....

Yes, that's an empty box of food right there in the middle!!!  Sitting among the Christmas cards, bought and made, which have yet to be written...... think we're moving on to 1st Class stamps now!!.   lol
We went shopping the day of PJ's accident and this box of food was reduced so we had nothing to lose - I was preparing this meal when PJ fell.  I have to say I am quite impressed with it, although the portions were slightly smaller than M&S (see Train Trip post which will follow), there was a bigger selection.
Anyways up, it is there cos I need the card to make another swap ...... guess the theme time again!!!

So sorry the photos are a bit gory but I am amazed the difference a couple of days can make to the Human Body .....

Hope to post a happy Boxing Day post next week, but if I don't make it ...... I hope you and your families have a happy, peaceful and warm Christmas with lots of hugs and kisses.

Christmas special requests

Just popping in to show some paperwork I made up for DDC.

I don't know where she gets her ideas from, so I can't credit anyone but, if it's you, please let me know.
The items speak for themselves but I thought that they were really super ideas.

I added our own take to the original thoughts ......
The measure decs were backed onto Mirror card before cutting outand  then, when dry, Stickles glitter added.
I found the Father Christmas picture on the Microsoft clip art and added the text to it.
I am really pleased with the way they turned out....... seems I haven't lost my touch yet!!  lol

Getting ready for Christmas........

It was decided that it was time for Christmas to start ......
DDC arrived and helped 'clear' the loft so the boxes and bags started to pile up in the hallway.
Next day we cleared the corner and waited the arrival of the Christmas Tree Applications Manager ..... DGS1

After some shopping, he arrived all ready to start work.
Each branch of the tree was picked out of the box and given to Grandma, we had to sort colours and letters of course!  Grandad was in charge of the lights as they needed to be unwound slowly.
The tree gradually crept up in size filling the corner space.  It grew so high that it just about fitted under the ceiling.
There is a special joy this year as he has no memory of last year's tree ...... shame but ...... it means we get to enjoy his amazement all over again!!!

Then came the exciting part ...... well for me....... unwrapping the tree decorations.  DGS1 was sooooo careful with them all, carrying them carefully to the tree and fixing them onto the tree......except for the knitted decs, they were rolled along the floor .......!
Sorry there's not many photos ..... the excitement took over.

The partly decorated tree doesn't look too bad actually and we have queried whether to add anymore decs ....... I'm all for adding chocolate ones ..... nothing like slowly stripping the tree as the fancy takes us!

We have promised the CTAM that we will continue the decs and will have our village (with train) on show for when he comes again.........

Yes, I've managed to get to the 'writing' point on my Christmas Cards........ lots of cards, envelopes, address book and STAMPS!   Please note:- although I have 2nd class stamps on my desk ... it may change!  lol

PJ's desk:
The engine is getting too long now to photograph so I have brought it through to my desk - photos only you understand!!
All the inside cogs have been added and the engine has had a trial run along the landing!!

This was a total success, wheels and cogs all churning along together.

It was a very good feeling to hear the 'winding' noise as the key was turned..... much smiling, whooping and laughter to be had!

The work continued to add the tender, I think this is where the main work will continue.

As an aside, PJ has enjoyed making this so much that he has sent away for a model of one of the trucks that the Volunteers are restoring at Vintage Trains.  I believe it is a plastic replica......

...... all because of his attendance at the LACrop!

Guess!
Yep!
I did it!
This was my desk on Sunday evening!!
They are all waiting to be written now - inserts, envelopes and address list all sorted, stamps purchased - 2nd Class this year I think!!  lol

And so we move on to my current desk view ......
I am was about to start creating another set of ATCs, backgrounds at the ready...... and then ......Oh! No!  I don't have the stamps I need to finish off these cards!
I am now waiting for my Stamps to be delivered ...... meanwhile ..... to the right of my desk one can see a die ....... Christmas Trees to be cut and finished while I wait ....

Peter's Desk update:
Peter has managed to complete some more to his engine ..... he was on such a roll the one day that he crafted beyond daylight (I'm sure lots of us can relate to that!).

The engine now has opening doors and roof hatch.

The 'motions' are now complete and all in working order

The key to it all workings, plus the huge thick rubber band is in place......

The engine footplate in all its glory.

I must admit that it is all getting exciting now.

There are still visions of platforms and rail extensions on the horizon..... which is getting a lot nearer .....

I hope that the weather is a bit brighter and better for you where you are ...... it is another dull, overcast, dank day here.
Here's to the Summer.......

Sorry about today's layout but Blogger will have its way!
