WOYWW - All the deets on how to link up etc. and, more importantly, why you should, can be found at the top of the page. Thank you Julia for hosting another week of fun and mayhem.
Congratulations to me! I have remembered to link up!!
I know that I am progressing with finding my way around this laptop, I may even start with Blogger soon, but it is hard going for me. It takes me a loooong time to sort out what I want to do which was soooo simple with my old laptop, but I know I am getting there. . . . . probably be Windows 45 by the time I master this one!!
My Desk:
Do not let the fact that this is how it has looked since Sunday detract from the view . . . . .I spent most of the day on Sunday trying to find and transfer my digital images, I managed to do so and then found that I have lost all my Vera Lane's. Luckily I found these printouts from an earlier time so they will have to be used. I am ready to colour them once I can find the time (still looking for the extra 24hours, take it no-one else has found any either) my pencils are in the large plastic box.
Eagle eyes may spot the ink cartridges . . . . the big one on top is empty. Inside the packet underneath are all the colours that fit my printer EXCEPT the big black one!!! That will be with the new pack that is in the desk drawer in the box room . . . . . underneath all the Christmas boxes and bags that never went up in the loft!!!
Oh! yes!
I thought Peter's desk drawer would be a good place to keep the ink cartridges as most of them were already in there. My second thought was to leave all the Christmas decs in the box room as it is not used now . . . . . .bad thinking on my behalf . . . . guess retrieving ink cartridges from behind bags and boxes will take up most of tomorrow!!!
Such an exciting life!!
I hope that your week is a bit more creative and adventuresome.
Don’t knock yourself, you’re doing brilliantly sorting out all the tech by yourself, I’d struggle with it too. Hooray for finding the images too, hope the ink cartridges make themselves known before too long as well!!

I agree with Jan you are doing a grand job Christine, i'm rubbish with technology any windows change makes me shudder. Good find with the print out, I do love those Vera Lane images.
ReplyDeleteTake good care of yourself & Happy WoywW Tracey #1 x
Christine, I am NOT techy at ALL!! So good luck with getting that all figured out! It does take time and A LOT OF PATIENCE I am sure! LOL Glad you found the images and hopefully through the process everything will transfer fine! Blessings, Felicia #30
ReplyDeleteComputers are both a pain in the neck and a brilliant invention. It’s not just learning it’s remembering too! I kept a notebook a one time to help me remember all the steps! Happy WOYWW Angela #7
ReplyDeleteOh I do hate it when I can't find something on my drive. Lucky you had a print out to provide some coloring fun! Good luck unearthing the ink. I am always putting things in a "safe place" and losing track of them, sometimes for years...
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW!

I was really lucky when I got my new computer. My friend built if for me from the ground up and transferred all my files. No Windows for me this time and I am so happy. However, the computer before that was Windows and I had to transfer all the files myself. I can feel your pain from that time. I think you are doing a great job, regardless. It's too bad about the lost files, but at least you have some print outs to work with. Good luck with this endeavor. Happy WOYWW from # 12.
ReplyDeleteIt seems as if everyone is sorting, reorganising or tidying at the moment, Christine! It's so satisfying getting everything in the right place that works for you. Well done with your laptop. It's a major pain getting installed with a new one and I am sure you will get there in the end. I am just glad I abandoned Blogger in favour of Wordpress a while back - by all accounts the new version is a total pain!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit - praise God indeed! He is so good to me. Everything is working out fine with all my planningand I know His hand is on the whole situation. Nothing is too hard for Him. My laptop problem was that the hard drive died. The motherboard is fine. I've now got a solid state drive (SSD) which is more robust and I hope it will last a good long time! I am very careful with backing up so this time the reinstall wasn't too bad, as I'd recently reorganised my backup storage. I only lost a few files which had been dumped temporarily on the desktop, and which I hadn't got round to backing up. My studio sorting is going pretty well but I haven't done so much this week, with everything else that's going on. I totally agree with you about the problem of not being able to find anything though! When we first moved here, and I got it all set up, everything took at least twice as long as it should have done because I spent so much time searching for things!
Happy WOYWW and God bless,

Sounds like you are doing a great job getting used to your new laptop - computers can be so frustrating can't they. Good luck getting to the ink cartridges.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good week,

I agree with the rest - you're doing great - I have to have help when I set up a new computer, and I work on a computer all day every day!! I don't have a printer so at least I don't run out of ink!! Have a good week Helen #11
ReplyDeleteOH! I really do have to backup, my son is complaining about me all the time. I don't have the time! However I couldn't use a laptop, a PC every time for me, I love the large screen on my monitor, no squinting to see things ;D
ReplyDeleteGreat job on sorting, bet you will find lots of other things you forgot about too!
Keep well

Happy Belated WOYWW. I generally don't find much difference between the different versions of Windows. Been using it almost daily since the 90s. It does take some time to get a laptop or pc sorted after losing data/programs. I had to do that on my old craft room pc about 2 years ago, but now have a new one anyway (much quicker and able to cope with the complicated design software I use). A reminder to do a backup to my EHD (I use Dropbox for all my photos/documents etc, so I know they are safe). Ali x #15
ReplyDeleteOh I think your IT badge should be a gold one! It frustrates me and causes me to give up, so I’m very admiring of your staying power and it’s paying off, you’re doing a great job. As for the printer ink…hmmm, nothing ins ever really where it makes sense for it to be is it, at least you have a good idea for where to look, I always think that’s a great start! I can’t help with the floating 24 hours thing either, it’s quite incredible how easy it is to lose a whole day. I very much hope you can carve out some colouring in time, x
ReplyDeleteWell done with what you have already managed on your new laptop CHristine - shame you lost some of your digital images. Hope you find the relevant ink cartridge without too much trouble. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #9
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm late this week just got a bit distracted. Good luck with getting used to the new computer, I'm sure that after a few days of playing you will love it. Have a happy belated woyww, Angela x23x
ReplyDeleteI have resisted the latest windows for years - cannot bear change!! I also get very confused with image files - and don't get me started on the cloud!! You are doing brilliantly. Happy WOYWW, stay well, stay safe, Cindyxx #18
ReplyDeleteI'm running a little late this week. Well done for getting set up on the new computer and finding your files. I can relate to your experience of putting something away in a logical place only to discover that it doesn't work after I have buried it and then have to dig it out again. Good luck with retrieving them! Happy belated WOYWW. Take care and stay safe, with love & God bless, Caro xxx (#29)
ReplyDeleteWell done for getting set up on your new computer :)
