Time spent in the garden

Over the last two days, DDC and I have been trying to get the garden under some control.

The first day we (she) cut all the bushes at the end of the garden down to fence height.  We were both shocked at how much light flooded into the garden!  I really didn't expect that . . . .

I also spotted a Red Weigela peering out at the top, what a lovely sight!  I keep looking at it from the kitchen doorway and it makes me feel good.

'We' then tackled what was left of the Black Bamboo.  It has been so tall for so long it seems very strange now not to have it waving at me through the window as I sit here typing.

I now have something to do in the garden  . . . . cutting all this down and filling my brown bin!

The second day 'we' attempted to clean the pumps in the pond . . . . . 'take photos as we take it apart then we'll know how to put it back together again'  she says . . .

 . . here's a good tip - remember to take photos!!

That's all!!

But we did manage to fit it all back together again.  I think we were so interested to see how far we could get without breaking it . . . . the sludge went on the garden as there are no tomatoes this year . . . . .

However we successfully cleaned two pumps and the water is looking lovely and clear . . . . .hello fish.

This is really a photo of the Iris buds but it includes two pumps working admirably . .
