WOYWW #633

WOYWW - All the deets on how to link up etc. and, more importantly, why you should, can be found at the top of the page.  Thank you Julia for hosting another week of fun and mayhem.

Another hot week passes and we move on towards the rain . . . . just saying . . . . .

Haven't spent much time at the desk this week, it faces south and I tend to keep the curtains drawn to help shade the room.

I manage the odd five minutes here and there and as you can see . . . . .

. . . . . . I am still creating cards of one sort or another.  This one is ready to have water added.

I have been searching for some material, without any luck (tidy ups are the pits!!) but I really need a couple more pinnies.

I thought I would maybe use PJ's African tops.  They are quite old and very lived in . . . . summer wear . . .  I didn't take a photo of the top I used but the design is always the same although the material and embroidery varies.

The one I did use has rather large pockets, which will have to be repositioned to be usable, but will take a phone and glasses perfectly.  (I am under instruction to carry my phone with me at all times . . . . . .)

I used the pocket pieces on the apron made from the back of the top, and then cut two more pockets from the sleeves to go on the apron with the embroidered neckline.  I won't pass any exams with my sewing but speed was of the essence  . . . . it's a sun thing!!

They are very comfortable and are a welcome addition to my wardrobe!!

Off now to visit now . . . . . as and when of course!

The text is LARGE . . . .  according to the book of Blogger, I imagine that small will be invisible or below the legal limit!!!

  1. LOL! I had to re-thread the drawstring of the Hubster's favorite shorts and sew up a rip in the fabric (not at a seam, darn it!) this morning and I hated every minute of it. Repair sewing is the worst. Your altered top will be very useful to leap you tidy. Me? all of my clothes seem to be covered in paint spatters so I should take a leaf out of your book and make one for myself.

    Happy Hot Day Desk Hopping!

  2. I loved seeing your alterations of the African top, the best use of something cherished - wouldn’t PJ be happy that you did that rather than them sit in a drawer? And they’ll be cool - I’m with you, roll on the cooler temps at the weekend! How people can sit on a beach all day is beyond me….

  3. I know what you mean about text size. Sometimes on the comments I have a job to read what I have written. Thanks goodness for red lines under typos.
Great idea with the aprons - they look great to me. I am the same kind of stitcher as you. Used to be good at making things but now it's speed first and foremost.
Glad you can keep kind of cool - rain at weekend.
    Hugs, neet 3 xx

  7. Great job with the aprons. Ever since I got paint on a favourite jumper I have been thinking I should wear one. It’s nice for the memories too and more comfortable than the PVC one I have (and don’t wear!) Angela #12

  9. well that is a great re-purposing of one of PJ's tops, how wonderful. I hope you enjoy the cooler weather when it eventually gets here! I can't wait either, though it's a shame it will come with rain for Kew on Saturday!! Have a good week. Helen #2

  10. I love your sewing efforts, Christine. What you have made is "memory pinnies" lol! You know me, though - I'd have worn the African tops as-is! Just gorgeous - I love ethnic clothes.

Thank you for your visit and your lovely comments about my various projects this week. I had my phone appointment with the surgeon this a.m. and all is well - no cancer detected beyond the lump. However, no definite answer on the chemo question until I've seen the oncologist.

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  11. Only just getting round to commenting after two exhausting days with Ben - lol. Loved every minute but goodness - how much energy a six year old has - even in this heat! What a great way to re-purpose the beautiful top. It would have been a shame not to have used that lovely fabric. The aprons look fab and will be so useful and look good too! xx Jo
