WOYWW #747

WOYWW - All the deets on how to link up etc. and, more importantly, why you should, can be found at the top of the page.  Thank you Julia for hosting another week of fun and mayhem!

It's WEDNESDAY!!!

the Desk

I was informed about a sale at Seven Hills Crafts, rather like their goods and service so I went to their website . . . . just for a look you understand.

Order sent Sunday night, order delivered first thing Tuesday . . . . like I say, I rather like their service!

I am creating some ATCs using some corrugated cardboard.  Just prepping at the moment, had to stop to examine the stash!

When I find the correct colouring blend I shall continue with these cards.  Have just been trying out pens, shall move onto paints now . . . .

The Screen this week . . . .

. . . . . is of a lovely sunny day in Centenary Square, Birmingham.  The Hall of Memory to the left and Baskerville House to the right with the New Library towering over it.  Baskerville House is where my Mother came to collect her wages every week . . . all wood panelled passages and offices . . . . I had to go with her as a youngster and I found it very overpowering . . . reminds me now of the Bank in Mary Poppins . . . . the smell of polish and old men in suits . . . . oh! yes!  I know exactly how those children felt . . . .lol

  1. Well, I wouldn’t have thought about using corrugated cardboard as a background for an ATC, how interesting, I look forward to seeing how they turn out. I guess it’s instant texture isn’t it? Love the pic of Brum and your story, my parents lived there for 12 years in the 50/60s and loved it, in fact I was born there but moved back to Wales when I was a baby, so I’m an honorary Brummie too!! Xx

  2. Lovely picture of Birmingham - and lovely memory to share too.
Ooh, dragonflies and corrugated card - sounds like something interesting is going on. I wonder if any of those new purchases are going to be included? As you say, great service, must check them out.
Can see that jam jar being a good idea to have.

  4. Hi Christine! Yes, I'm familiar with those "just for a look" shop visits! I sometimes spend more money in the morning before work than I make that day LOL! But we're worth it, right? Lovely blue skies in that photo - makes me want to check out the place! Thank you so much for your comment - it's lovely being part of WOYWW again! Hope you have a great week! xx zsuzsa #22

  5. You got some lovely dies. I suspect you will get a LOT of use out of them.

I've used corrugated cardboard as an ATC background before, but I really like the idea of using it with the dragonflies.

Had to laugh at the comment you left me. Yes, we short people have to stick together.

That is a beautiful screensaver and a great back story to go with it. Thanks for dropping by while I slept. Happy WOYWW from # 3.

  7. Oh I remember the scene from Mary Poppins very well. I can picture it now, all I need is a picture of you as a child to complete the image! I can’t resist looking through a sale either. Happy WOYWW. Angela #2

  11. Well every day is a school day at WOYWW. I had no idea Jan was a brummie! I loved your story. It did conjure up memories of visits to old style offices when everything was spotless and we kids knew we had to be quiet and well behaved- it might only have been a post office or bank but it was so out of our comfort zone. x x Jo

  12. What am I like. Supposed to be catching up on My WOYWW, see the word SALE witha helpful link and I'm off down a rabbit hole for another hour. I was good, but while I was there I checked out something else I've been looking for but found it on another site. So I didn't buy anything today. But I might tomorrow!! Love a bit of corrugated card, lovely texture. Glad you like the Lionel photos, guess I might be boring some but hey, nanna's privilege. Have a good week, love n hugs Cindy # 21

  14. Enjoy your new stash, Christine. That’s a great photo of Brum. I had to read the last sentence twice, I read it as ‘the smell of polish and of old men in suits’ 🤣.
    Take care; enjoy your week

  15. Thanks for the visit, Days go fast here in and out with fall crop help I transport him and his equipment to and from other fields for harvest. He's almost done with corn then on to soy bean fields and if weather co operates DONE in 2 weeks if no breakdowns. Parts are issues if they have to be replaced. Available sometimes but ...like our world who knows. The 3x3's I am making daily Inkbox Cards they are called are similar to the ATC's I love working "TINY" spaces. and The Collage Art Collective group has different types of art to create and very supportive. I just like using up my stash.!!!!! I rarely do trades anymore OUR mail sucks...cannot depend on arrivals or sending It's mostly PART TIME with no benefits and usually not local folks *they get sent to farther away) (what sense???:) Cost is high for thickness and if I take the same item to different Postal Offices it can be a different price????? Just a crazy mess. I did enjoy your post and memories are fun ! Have a great week.

  18. Thank you for the reminder of leveraging the beauty of corrugated cardboard. I haven't used it in years, and so I appreciate the inspiration! Merry creating!

  19. You have the knack for peeling back the top layer of the cardboard to reveal the ridges nicely. Mine always look like it was chewed off by mice! Ah well...

    Happy, so very late, WOYWW!
