WOYWW #408

What'sOnYourWorkdeskWednesday - if you want to find out more then checkout the WOYWW tab at the top of the page - and our thanks go to Julia for hosting this weekly meet up.

Good morning!
Hope you are still fighting the good fight ...... I am with 'things up high' ..... well, a small piece of plastic that stops other folks water running along your guttering ..... know what I mean?   lol

Anyhows, I decided to invest in some of the Oxide inks.....  managed to persuade PJ that we would be shopping not far from the dreaded Hobbycraft .... so off we went.

I couldn't find any of the oxide inks...... half a dozen Distress Inks was all they had!
moan, moan .... never have anything I come for ..... moan, moan ...

I bought a couple of glue tapes and a die ... off to the cash desk.
On the way ..... I passed the Magazine rack and had a quick look ........
I popped a magazine into the basket and then spotted an A4 Package ...... into the basket ..... couldn't leave the shop empty handed ......

Here are the purchases .......

 ..... and here's the A4 Package opened out .....
All this was neatly parcelled up inside the box.  Beautiful Cross die, A5 sheet of small stamps, C6 embossing frame, lasercut silhouettes and several insert papers, cards, diecut toppers and I am so very happy with it.  I am now pleased, in a way, that the Oxides were not there cos if they had been ..... I would not have stopped at the Magazine Rack!!!

Now to find the time to play ......

Now for the top two reasons why God created Eve.
2   As the Bible says, "It is not good for man to be alone!"

and the top reason is ....

When God finished the creation of Adam, He stepped back, scratched His head and said,

"I can do better than that"

WOYWW #407

This is What'sOnYourWorkdeskWednesday - if you want to find out more then checkout the WOYWW tab at the top of the page - and our thanks go to Julia for hosting this weekly meet up.

I spent last Sunday creating three ATCs on the theme of Love.  I haven't posted them yet, I keep looking at them and thinking there is something  ......I am going to redo the owls card I think......
In the meantime, I have put them to one side and printed out some images ready to colour.  I have my watercolours out but may also use my watercolour pencils.
Short but sweet.

Nah!   Not really!!

I still have an ongoing saga about the you know what!
PJ has managed to prepare the bathroom for decorating ...... we now need to find a local decorator/painter/plasterer.......

The up side of this week has been that Fiona emailed me to say that she could get my stamps for me ....  happy, happy, joy, joy!

Have a great week, ignore the rain and cold winds, craft, craft, craft.....

Two more from the Top 10 Reasons God Created Eve
4   As 'Keeper of the Garden', Adam would never remember where he put his tools.

3  The scripture account of creation indicated Adam needed someone to blame his trouble on when God caught him hiding in the garden.

1st Posting on a New Group

The mail has been taking a long time to travel from England to United States so I have been searching for a  new swap group, preferably based in UK................ after Brexit will we be 'Britain formerly known as Great'?

On a more serious note, I found a Group called UK Stampers and although it is a Facebook Group I joined.  I am not a Facebook user, I have an account and, after a rather uncomfortable time on there, I stopped using it.  The account is still open so I signed up through that account.  I haven't really fathomed how to use Facebook yet, my useless PC doesn't help but I hope to get there eventually.

The swap theme this month is Love.

I had a look around, especially on Pinterest, decided on my chosen designs, then set to work.

I used a small piece of blue painted paper and stamped two owls and a sentiment.  I water coloured the owls, extending the branch along the card.

I washed a pale blue watercolour across a white background, stamped a plane, house scene and sentiment onto this card.  I water coloured the both the scene along the lower edge and the aeroplane, adding a red stripe along the plane.

The heart card was much different and the one I made first.  It took several tries to achieve the finished result...lol.  The art was in cutting the correct side of the heart!  Did I mention that the stamping also took some time to find the right placement? Ages!
Once I had stamped the paper in the right position, I then used Sharpies and Promarkers to colour the flowers, skin and suit.  I then needed to attach the folded heart.....  After the glue had dried I folded the card open and stamped some pink hearts on the inside.  I used two sentiments on the outside, ensuring that the top sentiment fitted into the heart shape.
Now I must find out how to send these to our Host and then we wait for our returns .......
Looking at the above cards, I decided something was missing from the owls card.
It was boring but what to do?

PJ said 'give them a moon to croon to' so I started again and, after cutting the blue painted card to the correct size, I painted in a circle with yellow mica paint.  I phaffed around with it using a tissue then a baby wipe until I was satisfied with the overall effect.  I stamped and embossed the owls and the sentiment this time.
I added some water colour as before and tried to wipe it off the embossing as I have seen several times on the web.
Don't think it worked for me but I am pleased with the overall card.  The moon is a big improvement and PJ has a smile on his face!!!

UPDATED

I have received the following cards:

Beautiful card with a red enamelled heart in the centre.
Thank you Jill.

Another lovely card using Leonie Pujol stamps.
Thank you Tracey.

One from the Master, love the wooden hearts.

WOYWW #406

What'sOnYourWorkdeskWednesday - if you want to find out more then checkout the WOYWW tab at the top of the page - and our thanks go to Julia for hosting this weekly meet up.

Do not mention roofs to me!!!

We have had another busy week, including a day spent with DDC and 'boys' transforming her back garden!

We went round for a couple of hours and stayed the whole day! We had hoped that we would spend time just playing as we took a small slide with us and a laaaarge bottle of bubbles I found in Wilko's.
DDC had already made a start on the 'small' low hedge so we helped her and the time just flew past .... DSR even had pulled pork baps ready for us at lunchtime!
A really busy day but most enjoyable.

Now for the desk!
I have been trying to create a card for an ex-colleague's wedding anniversary and the components are laid out on the desk.  I have enjoyed die cutting the images and water colouring them ...... now to place them on the card ......
Hope I have time to finish the card and get it in the post by the weekend.

Not talking about anything up high ..... the story is long and disheartening..... my opinion of men has not been changed .... although the Scaffolders could not be faulted in any way ..... efficiency and courtesy along with conversation did not not slow any of these chaps at all..... shame abut the roofers, when the story has concluded I may share.....

Hope to visit a few more Blogs this week, didn't manage many last week so there is room for improvement!!!
Depends on Little Soldier again ......

You have a good week and I hope to see you here next week!!

WOYWW #405

What'sOnYourWorkdeskWednesday - if you want to find out more then checkout the WOYWW tab at the top of the page - and our thanks go to Julia for hosting this weekly meet up.

What a busy week!
You will be pleased to note that at the end of the week, DDN partner JLR came over and worked solid from 11.30hrs until 15.30hrs to complete a brand new fence!   I still am amazed by what happened.  I supplied teas and coffees and PJ and he worked like trojans .... I can never thank that man enough.  We may have been able to do it once but now we know for definite that it is time for us to slow down!  lol
We were going out for a meal - more on my Recollections Blog - so everyone left about 16.00hrs and then ..... the scaffolders turned up to erect scaffolding at the back of the house prior to mending the roof!  I told them we were going out in an hour but they insisted they could do it in that time so off they went ...... 50mins later the back of my house looked like this!!
The story behind this, short version, is that we take all the roof water from the houses in our small block of six houses.  Our fascia board has rotted as the water, which is too much for our pipes and drains, has overflowed the guttering over the years.  My back lounge flooded a lot this winter, and I have had enough!   I am sick of trying to get neighbours to take their own water as they can see no problem.
We are having a new fascia board and guttering and I am having it 'done proper'  ...... if the water overflows somewhere else  ....... they can see what I have had to put up with for 30years!!!
If you look carefully you might see that a few roof tiles have also moved .....

Don't care ...... this sight will not be here next week ..... everything up there will be new and shiney, very, very shiney!!!
I hope!!

Enough of the moaning .....THE DESK!

I managed to get a day at home yesterday so, after sorting and chucking a bit more, I sat down to create some yellow ATCs ..... (on the left of photo)
I started off trying  but mojo was asleep so I pulled out the pencils, water and brushes to colour some flowers for another swap.
I might manage to get back here tomorrow, we'll see!
In the meantime ...... thank you to all my visitors who popped round last week, loved all your comments ...... I shall be visiting tonight while PJ watches Spectre (again!)

Two more reasons why God created Eve ....

6  God knew that Adam would never remember which night was rubbish night - I question this as I haven't a clue!! lol

5  God knew that if the world was to be populated, men would never be able to handle childbearing.

March Swap

Some of you may recall the following photo on my WOYWW posting last week.

The printouts are for Envelope Cards and were designed by a clever girl who was a member of a Group to which I belonged years ago..... I have kept several of the designs in my files.
During my 'tidy up' of my room I found some of these files, and thought that I might be able to reduce them down to ATC size.  After several tries I have managed to produce three successful prints.

I fussy cut out all the pieces, made up the decoupage images and attached the base image to the card.  I then attached the 'envelope flap' the the back of the card, folding it over so that it met the images.
The decoupaged images were attached just over the tip of the flap so that the envelope appeared to be closed.  As the flap opened and closed, I decided that interest was needed just underneath it.  Too late to add a 'letter' so I used some rub ons to finish for two of the cards and a tiny label with a silver butterfly on the third.
You can't see it on the photo, but as the blue card was the first to be made the 'flap' is creased where I tried to position it so it closed under the decoupage.  I coloured up some silver peel offs and placed this over the crease and, thinking it looked good, I also added some to the other two envelopes.  I am very pleased with this result and may make some more later on.

Received the following cards from my partner:

Aren't they super?  Love them.
Thank you Vicki.

Closing down sale so jump in quick.....

.... that's how I felt when I received the notification that Lynnda at Oak House Studio has decided to retire.
I was very sad to hear that the shop will close but I am pleased for Lynnda.  I believe that everyone needs to do what they REALLY want to do at some point in their life and it looks as though now is the time for a change of direction in Lynnda's life.  I wish her all the best but not before I buy a few bargains.

I buy my small stamps for my ATCs from this site and shall miss buying the minis greatly but for now ..... I have some new stamps!!!

I did order more but, as they were sold out, these are my final delivery.
The stamps are handmade and translucent orange.  Lynnda suggests buying two sets of the circles so that one set can be separated so that's what I did.  They come as one sheet but I have trimmed them so I now have four stamps.
This book that the stamps are resting on is A5 so you can see that the stamps are really small, such good value for the price.
The oblong stamp in the centre - Do what you enjoy... enjoy what you do - has a small border round the edges but the other three stamps are just words.  I love these smaller stamps and I know I shouldn't have bought any more cos, as I have sorted and tidied, I discovered that I am now filling my fourth storage box!!!
That does not include all the stamps that arrive with my magazine 'Creative Stamping' which are stored in three folders!!  I am naughty but then ..... I am nice with it.
I just have to find the time now to use my lovely, jubbly new stamps!

WOYWW #404

Well, another exciting week has gone by!  NOT!
Doris (I had a MIL by that name once - same attitude!) came and went, our fence followed her .... several panels at least .... the chicken ranch saved the others!!!  We came downstairs the next morning to pure devastation at the end of our garden.

As you can see in the photo, we back onto a road and therefore we had to retrieve said panels so that the traffic could pass.  No council help here you know, just two pensioners hauling wood!!  lol
Oh! Doris was still about then so we had to fight the wind as well.  We did manage to take it all seriously ........ well, almost.
This is how the garden looked by the time that the righthand panel was replaced later in the week.  PJ and his friend from Tyseley Loco Works managed to get that panel up and now PJ is struggling to mend the rest of it.  He has roped up a couple of panels in order to fill the hole a bit and DDC will come on Saturday to help him mend the rest.  She is very good at obeying orders and willing to stand and hold spirit levels etc.
All good fun round here ........

Cos I've not been crafting, the desk was dumped on - in the name of tidying up of course!   I could tidy and keep an eye outside at the same time, health and safety hasn't reached the garden at the mo ...... and I worry!!

Anyways that's the situation over here now, and I have moved on to preparing for the March - yikes! - swaps.
On my desk you will find some printouts of the Cosmos flower, this variety is Xanthos ......  I will be making a card for the Alphabet Swap ......... here's a clue ... we're at the end of the alphabet!!
There are also some washi tapes in a dish ..... my holder is full so they will stay on my desk until I decide whether I need another holder or there is room on the current one for a few more rolls!
I have managed to make my partner swap ATCs for March, you may recall I was just starting them last week, they just need to be labelled and posted.
Once again I thank all my wonderful visitors for their comments and apologise if I didn't get round to visiting back ...... distracted again!  lol
Take care this week, stay warm and out of the snow if you can, but always have fun.

Two more reasons:
8  God knew that Adam would never buy a new fig leaf when his seat wore out and therefore need Eve to get one for him.
7  God knew that Adam would never make a doctor's appointment for himself.
