What'sOnYourWorkdeskWednesday - if you want to find out more then checkout the WOYWW tab at the top of the page - and our thanks go to Julia for hosting this weekly meet up.
Well, another exciting week has gone by! NOT!
Doris (I had a MIL by that name once - same attitude!) came and went, our fence followed her .... several panels at least .... the chicken ranch saved the others!!! We came downstairs the next morning to pure devastation at the end of our garden.
As you can see in the photo, we back onto a road and therefore we had to retrieve said panels so that the traffic could pass. No council help here you know, just two pensioners hauling wood!! lol
Oh! Doris was still about then so we had to fight the wind as well. We did manage to take it all seriously ........ well, almost.
This is how the garden looked by the time that the righthand panel was replaced later in the week. PJ and his friend from Tyseley Loco Works managed to get that panel up and now PJ is struggling to mend the rest of it. He has roped up a couple of panels in order to fill the hole a bit and DDC will come on Saturday to help him mend the rest. She is very good at obeying orders and willing to stand and hold spirit levels etc.
All good fun round here ........
Cos I've not been crafting, the desk was dumped on - in the name of tidying up of course! I could tidy and keep an eye outside at the same time, health and safety hasn't reached the garden at the mo ...... and I worry!!
Anyways that's the situation over here now, and I have moved on to preparing for the March - yikes! - swaps.
On my desk you will find some printouts of the Cosmos flower, this variety is Xanthos ...... I will be making a card for the Alphabet Swap ......... here's a clue ... we're at the end of the alphabet!!
There are also some washi tapes in a dish ..... my holder is full so they will stay on my desk until I decide whether I need another holder or there is room on the current one for a few more rolls!
I have managed to make my partner swap ATCs for March, you may recall I was just starting them last week, they just need to be labelled and posted.
Once again I thank all my wonderful visitors for their comments and apologise if I didn't get round to visiting back ...... distracted again! lol
Take care this week, stay warm and out of the snow if you can, but always have fun.
Two more reasons:
8 God knew that Adam would never buy a new fig leaf when his seat wore out and therefore need Eve to get one for him.
7 God knew that Adam would never make a doctor's appointment for himself.

Morning Christine - goodness - you certainly were hit harder than I was with Doris. I lost several panels from the greenhouse, and one fence panel - which my brand new, very thoughtful neighbour, replaced before I even went round to ask if we could do it together. Think we will need to replace it eventually - but hopefully, no rush. Hope you are soon all straight again, and that health and safety weren't necessary in your garden!
ReplyDeleteGoodness - the March swap done already?! I haven't even made my youngest grandson's birthday card yet - and that's next week!
Take care. God bless.

Wow, sorry to see the problems that Doris caused you. We escaped luckily despite the horrible storm. I didn't like the sound it made out in my shed at all, but luckily there's that much ivy growing over our fence panels they stayed safely in place. Hope everything's back in place soon. Hugs. ReplyDeleteMorning, so sorry to read of the devastation wrought by storm DORIS and hope it will soon be relatively back to normal (whatever that is!).
ReplyDeleteGood looking desk this morning too

hope you have recovered from the storm now, we haven't had Doris in Brittany but this weeks high winds have brought trees down in the roads connecting the hamlets - all the menfolk love it - out with the chainsaws and trailers gathering 'free' wood as payment for the clearances...what will you do next now your alphabet is finished? dxxx#28
ReplyDeleteWow that looks like a lot of damage! Sorry Doris hit you so hard. You must have been doing that one swap a long time if you've reached the end of the alphabet! Don't think I could stick at something so long lol.

Hi Christine, my youngest son lives in Tysley! Looks like Doris made a real mess of your fence. And are lose glass carbouys I see in your garden?Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #8 XXX
ReplyDeleteI'm assuming Doris was a hurricane? or a tornado? Glad that was all the damage that she did, it probably could have been worse. Xanthos - perfect for X! Thanks for sharing, Lindart #40
ReplyDeleteYou made me chuckle with the reference to Doris and your ex-mil, LOL. I had to look at that photo for a while to see what has happened. Wow! Lucky there was no bigger damage or personal injury. That panel could have hit someone in the street! Good riddance Doris - please don't come back in any shape or form! Happy WOYWW. PS, I've got those washi tapes from the Works that I saw on your desk the other day! zsuzsa #26
ReplyDeleteA Mil called Doris huh - I can just picture her now :-D So sorry about the fence panels, it's so frustrating have to sort it all out. Hope PJ is ok doing it all.
ReplyDeleteHugs, LLJ 15 xxx
gosh, Doris certainly pulled you around a bit... your tale of an ex MIL made me chuckle. hope the damage is restored soon. are you having your pancakes a day late, lol?! Helen#5
ReplyDeleteGosh, OH thought we had been hit when we ended up with two fence panels out and a tile missing. Cost us £350 for the roof repairs eventually. Now with my health problems I am not much use at lifting those panels, thank goodness for good neighbours. Cosmos are lovely and well done on reaching the end of the alpha swap.
ReplyDeleteDon't like the sound of this and realise how lucky we were here, though there are a few trees that have lots branches and the like. Take care Christine and lets hope it's over. Happy belated WOYWW, Angela x 21
ReplyDeletewow Doris did some serious damage to your fence, we were lucky this time round. Alphabet swaps are always interesting at the end of the alphabet I would never have thought of looking for an x variety of flowers. Tracy #27
ReplyDeleteSorry about your fence panel damage, Christine. We've had problems with this in the past but have escaped so far with recent storms. You've got a nice busy desk going on there. Thank you for your visit and nice comment - I've also got Brushos as well as Infusions but I much prefer the more subtle colours of the Infusions, and the fact that they are so much more versatile - e.g. leaving them to mature for longer before drying them, allows the walnut crystals to develop and you get that gorgeous grungy look. I expect I shall still use my Brushos now and then but I don't think they are as interesting. Making slow progress and feeling a little better each day, but wore myself out thoroughly this a.m. washing my hair and helping my hubby with fresh bedding and laundry sorting!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated WOYWW,
