What'sOnYourWorkdeskWednesday - if you want to find out more then checkout the WOYWW tab at the top of the page - and our thanks go to Julia for hosting this weekly meet up.
What a busy week!
You will be pleased to note that at the end of the week, DDN partner JLR came over and worked solid from 11.30hrs until 15.30hrs to complete a brand new fence! I still am amazed by what happened. I supplied teas and coffees and PJ and he worked like trojans .... I can never thank that man enough. We may have been able to do it once but now we know for definite that it is time for us to slow down! lol
We were going out for a meal - more on my Recollections Blog - so everyone left about 16.00hrs and then ..... the scaffolders turned up to erect scaffolding at the back of the house prior to mending the roof! I told them we were going out in an hour but they insisted they could do it in that time so off they went ...... 50mins later the back of my house looked like this!!
The story behind this, short version, is that we take all the roof water from the houses in our small block of six houses. Our fascia board has rotted as the water, which is too much for our pipes and drains, has overflowed the guttering over the years. My back lounge flooded a lot this winter, and I have had enough! I am sick of trying to get neighbours to take their own water as they can see no problem.
We are having a new fascia board and guttering and I am having it 'done proper' ...... if the water overflows somewhere else ....... they can see what I have had to put up with for 30years!!!
If you look carefully you might see that a few roof tiles have also moved .....
Don't care ...... this sight will not be here next week ..... everything up there will be new and shiney, very, very shiney!!!
I hope!!
Enough of the moaning .....THE DESK!
I managed to get a day at home yesterday so, after sorting and chucking a bit more, I sat down to create some yellow ATCs ..... (on the left of photo)
I started off trying but mojo was asleep so I pulled out the pencils, water and brushes to colour some flowers for another swap.
I might manage to get back here tomorrow, we'll see!
In the meantime ...... thank you to all my visitors who popped round last week, loved all your comments ...... I shall be visiting tonight while PJ watches Spectre (again!)
Two more reasons why God created Eve ....
6 God knew that Adam would never remember which night was rubbish night - I question this as I haven't a clue!! lol
5 God knew that if the world was to be populated, men would never be able to handle childbearing.

Love number 5 on the list! Glad the fence has been mended and the guttering is well on its way. You certainly have a great supply of pencils! Happy WOYWW Sarah #29
ReplyDeleteyou will be so much better off not having so much rainwater to deal with on your ground...the first thing we did on site was get the roof rainwater off site, now all the french neighbours want guttering and run off (normally it just runs off the roofs into the French drains here in Brittany...leading to very muddy flooded land if we have a period of storms..) interesting that you chose 'water' colours to play with !!! Dx #32
ReplyDeleteHI Christine, yes please feel free to share the link, I do it to help people make up their minds about a product. Totally agree with you about the roof- let them see what it's like to put up with that. Glad your fencing got finished so quickly. Not sure if my mojo is asleep or not, I rather suspect he's sat on a beach somewhere, totally off his face on morphine, and drinking mojito's, lol,Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz Xxx
ReplyDeleteLove the sight of all those colored pencils...it's good to have a day at home after such a busy week. Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #40
ReplyDeletewe had the same problem when we had our roof done last fall - all the fascia board and gutterborads were rotting - it was where the squirrels were getting onto the attic. We had to have it all replaced. At least we no longer have the critters in the attic! Adam needed Eve to TELL him which night was rubbish night - every week! LOL! Luckily I don't have that problem! Thanks for sharing! Lindart #43
ReplyDeletehope you get your roof sorted soon and the water ... nightmare! hope you enjoyed the meal eventually. I used to give my mum the sewing up of knitting... obviously can't do that any more (not that I'd knitted for sometime before she died, but that's not the point!) Have a good week. Helen #1
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad that you have to deal with the neighbours' rain water! That's why my husband wants to get away from neighbours as far as possible. We've had trouble with them as well, chucking gravel against the fence, which will come down sooner or later, but they just don't care. It's our fence, so we'll have to pay for it. It's very unfair! Hope everything will be back to normal soon! zsuzsa #30
ReplyDeleteWell, that will sort out the drainage for once and all...your neighbours will realise just exactly what you've had to put up with all this time. And boy, did the men do a great job with the fence...it looks brilliant!!!

Love your stash of crayons, makes mine look nothing. Have found a love of aquacrayons. Hope you are dry from now on. #2
ReplyDeleteMojo will be back soon, I'm sure. I love the rubbish day quote. Our bins are collected fortnightly and I'm not the best person to remember bin day. I get better at remembering in the summer, when the heat combined with cat litter brings out the 'Disco-Rice' (maggots). Grim. Thanks for sharing and have a great week - EmbroidRage #5x
ReplyDeleteHi Christine. I'm with you at the age of needing to slow down... not my choice. But every day I argue with that part of me and still try to do things I probably shouldn't. Silly me. If I didn't do those things I'd have more time for the play LOL Creative Blessings on the return of the mojo. Kelly #37
