Now sit down before you look here ......
This is what I call a clean desk .....
It is not only an empty space but it has been cleaned and dried. I also did my other desk which resides the other side of the green lidded box and has my PC and printer.
Clean desks, clean floor cos I had to sweep all the bits up ......
OK, just the bit in the middle got cleaned..... duh! I can't move all my inks, card, papers and all the other detritus cos that LIVES there!
I am now clearing boxes - I am calling it 'Blind Clearing' ..... just look at the box, think 'when did I even look inside let alone know what's in it' and then empty it into the rubbish bag.... don't look just chuck.
I managed to do one box .... then I had a quick gandy inside the next one ..... only removed a small amount of paper ....well, you need to keep some to practice stamping...... I have decided it's very hard but I am going to keep trying ........to empty a box without looking inside cos it's sat there for a year or so ...... very hard ...... but not impossible.... no!.... really!? ...... y e s ...
Thank you to all my visitors last week, I had a super day with Julia Watts - her classes are just so busy and funny and interesting and .....
PJ found the factory and when he showed the 'boss' what was happening to the weather vane, the boss said that there was a faulty part and replaced it free of charge! Customer Service!!! getin!
PJ then managed to find a Halfords so he could replace his wing mirror - damaged on the way out of town in the horrendous traffic. Why do folks want to rush to work?!?!
He quite enjoyed travelling round Kettering trying to find these places, loves a challenge to do with travel......
I shall be seeing Little Soldier today - first time since last Monday week.... it's been very quiet round here!!! I hope to be back here later so that I can pop round to yours and say 'Hello'.
Cor Blimey what a lovely clean desk. So very tidy. Well done you!
ReplyDeleteNot too sure I could just tip a box, I would have to have a nosey inside first. I have a box full of stamps to get rid of, it is propping my door open at the moment (and has been for weeks I hate to admit). Good luck with your 'tipping'

Well, that day in Kettering was just win-win all round! I;m happy that PJ enjoyed himself, I guess that was his whole life before when he worked in transport. I love finding my way around new places too, it doesn't phase me in the slightest. The workshop sounded great fun and woohoo for having your weathervane repaired for nowt!!

Yay, go you with the tidying. Hope you have fun with little soldier. Glad you had fun at your class and the weathervane was fixed. Sarah #8
ReplyDeleteMy husband is a big fan of your blind clearing theory. We have boxes in the garage that have resided there untouched since we moved here. That was 10 years ago! I know he is right but I just can't bring myself to do it. Good luck!

I can't do it...just can't!! But I have been gradually working through the boxes - reduced by about half now - and found a couple of charities that are making use of a lot of it...plus I have a pile to go on Ebay.

Oooo that space is just waiting for you to make it messy. I know exactly what you mean regarding box sorting, I started at the beginning of the year and got as far as box three before I realised I was just sorting them into more piles which needed more boxes.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the workshop and the weather vane got sorted, sounds like a very productive day including getting the wind mirror fixed!
Thank you for sharing WOYWW.

sounds like you both had a great day out then! well done on your blind cleaning! I should do some of that, rather than keep adding to stuff! hey ho.... Helen #? not sure someone linked me...4! (but you know that, and glad you like the Kew photos - they will keep coming!)
ReplyDeleteHi Christine, I'm working on a similar project myself to clear out but it is so hard. There is some stuff that just makes the clear out hard. I know I've not used the stuff but it's too good to just throw away so I'm looking for people willing to give some of them a happy home. Have a great woyww and happy crafting, Angela x28x
ReplyDeleteThe desk didn't terrify me but the blind cleaning did!! Aaargh, still shaking at the thought..... Mind you, I am beginning to think I spend as much time cleaning this room as I do creating anything....Happy Wednesday Cindy #15
ReplyDeleteWOW. awesome desk! Mine is covered today and starting to go skyward! Blind cleaning...I couldn't 'blind clean' I would totally go nuts worrying about what I had tossed. I think that it because I was raised by depression era people and we save everything cause you never know when you are going to need it and not have money to replace it. I buy too much 'on sale' because of the same reason! Have a great week. I am late getting around...really forgetful this week! Vickie #30
ReplyDeleteIf I blind dumped any of my boxes, I would be forever wondering what was inside them! I have my fair share of those scrap boxes and I always find long lost bits and pieces in them - but you're right in a way: if you get rid of stuff you never knew existed, you're not going to miss it LOL! Good job with the clean-up - now you actually have some space to create in! Thanks for visiting yesterday, Christine. Enjoy your weekend! zsuzsa #12
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I could dump a box without a peek first. And that would be my undoing LOL Be like 'oh that's where I put that' LOL Proud of you! Creative Blessings! Kelly #27
ReplyDeleteooh brave clearing technique I am impressed. Like you I am pleased when I actually clean my cutting mat down, regardless of what is around it, that in itself is an achievement!
ReplyDeleteKettering sounded like a great day out too.
Thanks for visiting my desk already
