1st of August..... Happy Birthday Lunch Lady Jan, enjoy this special day.
This is the Lavender Plant at Tyseley Loco Works. It sits in the middle of the visitors' garden and is magnificent.
Every year my intention is to use those lavender heads, they get cut off and the bush is pruned.
The next year the bush shows off with another wonderful display!
The lavender heads get cut off .......
See where I'm coming from?
Well, NOT THIS YEAR!
During the course of clearing up prior to the decorators starting work, PJ cleared out the remains of our business ..... yes, I know ..... after all these years.....
He found quite a few muslin bags that had contained the herbs and spices needed to make up Mulled Wine, emptied them out and brought them into my craft room.....
Any good to you? he asked!
Well!
My mind filled with lavender bags selling at the Open Day to help raise funds.....
So here's my desk today .....
Steam engine stamps, Versafine ink, umpteen muslin bags and, just out of view, a comfortable chair!
Filled lavender bags will appear on this Blog at some point in the future, till then I am stamping and filling!!
Have a good crafty week, and if you can't .... have some fun anyhow.
Hi Christine, great way to use the Lavender. Mine has been particularly magnificent this year, i think It's really enjoyed the weather we've had. I know it's made a lot of bees very happy. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #5 XxX
ReplyDeleteYour craft room must smell gorgeous with all that lavender bag filling Chris. Have fun getting inky too. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #19
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I lost all my lavender a few years ago - now I think about it I am going to get some more. The bees are enjoying so much this summer that I could get lavender to give them more to use.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week with all that work in progress.
Hugs, Neet 4 xx
I love lavender bags, I recently made some Sausage dog shaped ones. Have fun filling them, hope you do'nt nod off! Karen 26
ReplyDeleteI love lavender bags - such a typically 'British' thing. Thanks for sharing. Hope you have a good day - Hazel, WOYWW #15 x

oops, meant to type 'Oh' not 'Of' :D
DeleteI love the idea of lavender bags more than the actual thing, not over fond of the fragrance, just love to look at the plant and bees certainly love it! Have a creative week. Helen #1
ReplyDeleteThank you for the birthday wishes, I've had a really lovely day, noodling about, walking on the beach and eating local sea trout for tea...yum! I'm so pleased that you've saved the lavender for the charity work, that's exactly what I'd do. A neighbour has a huge lavender head and I'm plucking up courage to ask her if I can have some as I'm making stuff for the RNLI craft stall soon!

Head??? I meant hedge of course!! Xx
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing your filled Lavender bags Christine.
ReplyDeleteI have four hedges worth or lavender in my front garden and it has been wonderful watching the Bees and Butterflies feed from it. My next door neighbour often helps herself to handfuls of it to help her sleep at night. It's looking a little weathered now but the Bee's still keep coming.
Thanks for sharing WOYWW Tracey #3
I like lavender bags as moths don't so I put them around my antique teddy bears.Have a great woyww and a lovely crafty week, Angela x17x
ReplyDeleteBrilliant idea and love that you are stamping on the bags too - I'm looking forward to seeing how they turn out.

Hi Christine. Brilliant! Well done - great find, PJ. Hope they work well and then sell well. My lavender has been heavy with heads, but they have hardly lasted before going over:-(
ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.

What an amazing find, well done PJ, you are going to have fun filling those, the perfume will be quite heady. I'm hoping we can make room for lavender in our garden, when we have found some flower be space.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my desk
