A Day in the Garden

Another day outside, for a while, we did measure the heat at 31C (87.8F) so I came inside and started a bit of housework . . . . just a tiny bit!!

Whilst outside, admiring the flowers and wildlife we had this visitor. . . .
Sorry about the photo but I had to use the phone again . . .  after having a good look round he flew onto one of the feeding poles.  The Dove and Pigeon did not seem to mind as they just carried on looking for food.   At first I thought it was a Rook but have now found out it is a Jackdaw.  I wish the quality of the photograph was better, he really is an attractive bird . . . . .
He tried some of the food and then flew away, wonder if he'll bring his mate!!
There were a couple of Magpies chipping away at the suet square first thing this morning, might have to get myself a water gun!!!

While I sat outside I noticed that the Mock Orange is, at last, opening into flower . . . Hooray!!
It seems to be full of blossom this year and I have been waiting forever.

I also noticed that the Sambucus is coming into flower, this is a cutting again.  We had this plant and also a Sambucus Sutherland Gold (which was green!) in pots but only the nigra remains.

I checked up on the plant theatre
and the small Geranium is in flower
and also the Yellow Sysichrinum.
The blue one has had to be replanted, the dreaded vine weevil, so this will not flower until later as you can see.

Nice change of font size!!!  Would be nice if Blogger could also sort out these photo placings!!

Here, hopefully, we have two interesting pots: one has bulbs growing . . . .no, I have no idea!

The second one was planted with some 'black grass' and, as you can see, now has some Violets and Kafir Lilies added . . . nice!
Mother Nature strikes again . . . . .

That's it for today garden notes, ooh! one more thing . . ..the squirrel has been round digging and burying, I go round filling in the holes!!
We are still working on the brick path and the side garden.  We can only do this in small efforts as the soil is soooooo dusty.
Not a very good Blog experience today.  It has been very frustrating trying to get the photos where I want them to be placed.  The text change was a bit of a shock as well.  I really do believe that whoever thinks up these 'improvements' never, ever spends time checking to see they work - let someone who doesn't know what you've done play with it first before you demand that everyone use it!!!
