WOYWW #739

WOYWW - All the deets on how to link up etc. and, more importantly, why you should, can be found at the top of the page.  Thank you Julia for hosting another week of fun and mayhem.!

After a busy week so far I am not going to stray far from this desk today . .

The desk

Frighteningly clear!!  I have a new hammer ready to try again with the flower pounding . . . show you in future posts.
I am about to start on this month's cards - it's AUGUST doncha know!!!
I hope to post about what's been going on round here but firstly . . . .
Yeah!! the train set is up and running with the tram in the centre.  This is all thanks to my grandsons coming round to visit . . . . . what a day!!
The train is one of my favourite poems  . . . .

Know what I mean?   This is the Night Mail  and my first electric train.
Every time I walk into my backroom I am so happy . . .  I do manage not to play with it every time!  lol
I also want to share the result of some seed sowing back in the Spring . . . . another happy place.

Short and sweet as I have to start this month's cards . .
Oh!  The screen . . . .

Well of course they are!!!!!

  1. Oh you do take me right back to the days of Dear Son and Thomas the Tank Engine!! We had so many train layouts. We saw one (viewing a house we thought we might buy) that was mounted on a drop down wall , kinda like a Murphy Bed! So when the owner wanted to play the whole wall came down, with legs to support it, but when it needed to be stored, it went flat (ish) to the wall and had a cork board on the back. Very clever! Love the garden, so colourful, and have fun pounding out your aggression with that hammer!!
    Happy WOYWW!

  2. Well, it’s not often that you see a hammer as part of someone’s desk lol!! Hope it works perfectly for pounding the flowers…now there’s something you don’t say everyday! I love the train layout, that takes me back to my boys’ younger days as well…. And didn’t your plants grow well, they look so pretty in their pots.

  5. I don’t think I have heard of that poem. I did like seeing the trains though! Sounds a bit noisy flower pounding, but have fun x Angela #9

  7. You would have loved what I saw at the village show we went to on Sunday, a gorgeous set up of model trains with a sweet set of houses, cars and little people. This guy that had made it had set it all up in a tent for the show. It was one of the best I've seen. I'm sure I've read the poem before but I'll check it out when I've done here.Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x8x

  8. Hello. My grandchildren are definitely the sunshine of our life.
Your flowers are pretty. I also like that poem.
Re guinea pigs, these only squeak when they know its time for food lol, hear you chopping it. They are very cute. In their home they live indoors and outdoors. They have a large run , lots of freedom. They are very entertaining and I miss them when they go back. Anne x 17

  9. I am sure, if I had grandees, they would be my sunshine too and brighten my dark days for me. Glad you got the train set set up and good to hear you have a little play now and then. Good for the soul.
Love your flowers Christine, all grown from seed, might try myself next year.
Take care, have a lovely week ahead and stay safe and happy.
    Hugs, Neet 1 xx

  10. Had to smile at the train set. My husband’s into model trains, freight trains in his case. The Night Mail’s a great poem, you can hear the wheels crossing the track joints in its rhythm.
I’m not sure what flower pounding looks like but I’m looking forward to seeing the results.
    Take care and happy WOYWW

  11. At first glance I thought maybe you had been having IT issues and were gonna take it out on your laptop!! Well, I guess that might give you a work out. I've always been fascinated by train sets. I visited a garden once and they had tracks set out all through the garden - so cute!! Definitely coming over to the grandkid POV. Besoted with mine. Have a good week, love n hugs Cindyxx #7

  12. Oh snapdragons, or antirrhinums methinks. Love them! Was a little taken aback by the Timmy Mallet on your desk until I read what you've been up to with it - LOL Saw GP today and it's just a stubborn viral sore throat and to give it another couple of weeks to clear....Hugs BJ#3

  13. Good gracious hristine, a lump hammer on an otherwise tidy desk! a what a sight! Maybe you should do the actual pounding on the the back step, that hammer may well do your desk some damage. My girlfriend want presses flowers for her cards suggest you choose flowers with deep colours, apparently they stain well but the lighter colours tend to give up their colour. Teaching you to suck eggs now, sorry! Your potted display is magical, I do love a good cluster of flowers and how satisfied Yong that you've grown from seed.many of course, the train...I bet you've missed it. It makes me smile to think of the pleasure you get every time you see it. Brilliant grandsons!

  15. ooh the flowers look lovely and hope the pounding goes well. aah that poem brings back memories from my childhood. Love the train set, must admit on "Yesterday" channel, secrets of the london underground is my favourite programme! As to your Qs on my blog re my tenor horn playing. Must admit I gave up when I started my o level exams at school (too busy) and dont think my fingers or wrists could do it now!
