WOYWW #568

A Big Thank You to Julia , who monitors this Blog meet up each week, and gives us such good friends . . . . the ones who keep us sane and thankful in these trying times.  Thank you.

I am being very busy this week, in between rests, you know the routine . . . . one hour's work - two hours' sit down . . .
I am managing to get things done, I have one project a day to do.  Yes, that's right . . . . one project.

Sometimes it runs into two or more but only enough NOT to wear me out (which is easily done!)

My desk is a bit bare, the laptop takes pride of place!  To the left is a great card from Julia (Thank you, lovely surprise)  which really brightened my day so it now sits on my desk with my small cushion (think this was from Annie, correct me if I'm wrong) received at the last Crop (hiding behind my water bottle).  To the right I see the Funeral paperwork has appeared again. . . . won't get sorted today as I am working outside.

Today I am about to transfer White Bluebells to the top of the garden (or if your PJ - the bottom!), I will take photos don't worry . . . . oh! . . .  you weren't . . . . .

I managed to make some face masks yesterday, just wondered if I could do them being as how I found my sewing machine!
I made three from some material left from when we visited Nigeria, lengths of material were gifted to me so I made skirts, bags, dresses and saved all the left overs.
I hope to go out on Friday, sshhh!  first time since beginning of March, need to be careful!

Naturally other things happened . . . .

One of the first skirts I made needed repairing, nasty tear where it had caught on the roses, managed to match up the left over material and 'had a go' . . . .

Needlework Teacher would turn in her grave!  I know it's not the correct way to do the repair but it will do for the time being . . . .

I will stitch all the ends in tonight as last night I was busy sorting stamp sets.
Bit of a long story there . . . .

I was looking for a stamp to make up the postage....the only one of the correct price was in my collection . . . . you know how this goes . . . .  I ended updating the loose packets . . . .

Another evening gone . . . .

So today I start out in the garden and see what develops . . . .
I hope that the sun is shining where you are and you can take advantage of it . . . . Stay safe, keep crafting . . . . .

  1. Glad to see that you are being sensible while on the mend Christine. You still seem to be getting a lot done though, inside and outside. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #6

  2. It sounds like you have a nice balance of fun and recuperation going on. I have a sewing machine collecting dust in my closet that I really don't know how to use. Those skills come in handy now to make masks. Looks like we will be wearing them for a long while so it's great you can make them. The weather this morning is rather cold but sunny. I am hoping to get in my garden to begin weeding in a week. I am happy we are moving towards the warmer weather so I can get in my garden and lose myself. It is a favorite time for me and it couldn't come at a more perfect time. Continue to heal.

  3. So glad you are recovering, Christine. Pacing yourself is the best way forward - take it from me, the voice of experience (not that I listen to my own advice that much lol!). I think you've done a great job on that mend, and I do love that fabric! Thank you for visiting, and I'm glad our elephant umbrella cheered you up! It is fun, isn't it! The lockdown seems to be a good opportunity for resurrecting all those UFOs, and even though my life isn't that different since it started, I'm getting the "get those UFOs sorted" bug too! I've got so many to deal with, though!

    Happy WOYWW,

  4. So glad that you are gently able to do a little more. Pacing is key to these things. Love the fabric in your skirt. Happy WOYWW. Stay safe and take care. With love and God Bless, Caro x (#25)

  6. Sounds as if you are doing rather a lot in that hour Christine so please slow down and take it easy. Nobody is coming to the house whilst this lockdown is on so get yourself right first of all.
I read an account from a guy in Manchester who had had the virus, it sounded awful and very frightening. he was only 54 but he certainly went through it so please be careful you don't have a relapse.
    Sending gentle hugs,
    Neet 5 xx

  7. Hi Christine. Sounds like you are slowly regaining some strength. I just love the way you go about your day... start with one thing... which leads to another... and to something else - all to achieve the first one. Brilliant!!! I'll send you an email, then you can let me know which threads you need - if I have them I will send you some of each.
Take care. Stay safe. God bless.

  9. So glad you are on the mend Christine. Yes just take your time with everything, there is no need to fill every day with big projects. (I have to say that as I am so lazy - three hours laying on the sun lounger yesterday and apparently I had a little snorey sooze but I enjoyed it!!) Stay well, stay safe, Happy WOYWW Cindy #18

  11. Oh My, received my new Bible Journal goodies yesterday and so was so wrapped up in that most of the day and still not ventured into the Bible itself!!
Anyway I made 2 crocheted rainbows and hubby wouldn't let me send the first to my friend, who lives about a pharmacy so likes to decorate her window to cheer people up waiting in the queue outside.
    Thanks for the visit BJ#10

  12. The masks look great, very sensible to wear them now. Pleased to hear you're managing your time well and making sure you get plenty of rest. Have a lovely creative and happy woyww, Angela x17x

  13. Ah yes Christine, one job at a time and then rest. You absolute must. I’m digging holes in the lawn (mostly moss) to relocate the primroses that I have to keep mowing over. I’ve made a bank just for them, so I look forward to seeing quite a show next year! I know it’s something g to be put off, but I can’t tell you how glad I was to find that my Dad had some quite specific funeral arrangements, it took a weight off at a time when I really didn’t want to make the decisions on his behalf. I’ve done my planning since, just in case our girl has the same issue! Well done on the face masks, and frankly, the skirt repair..with a matched pattern it will barely show, so it’s not going to matter! Keep well now, both of you!

  14. So glad you are recovering well, and getting lots done by the sound of it. I love the fabric for your skirt and you've done a good repair job on it. Thanks for the visit to mine earlier, the silver clay is made of silver particles mixed with clay and then when you fire it the clay binder burns off leaving nothing but pure silver, so it's the weight of proper silver and can be marked as 999 rather than the usual 935 if you have the money and inclination to send it off to be hallmarked!
I hope you have a good week and your trip out on Friday goes well for you.

  15. Hi Christine, glad to hear you are recovering, and managing to do one project a day - but one does lead to another, and another. I think the mending on the skirt looks fine - I have a sewing machine but haven't used it much yet. One day ...

Great work on the face masks - I'll have to make some eventually I guess - I haven't been out much at all since I've been working from home. Twice I think in 5 weeks. Hope all went well with your day out today- you picked a nice day for it. Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier. Have fun if you do decide to give your stamp folders a makeover - I certainly enjoyed it. Have a lovely week, hugs, Heather xx #28

  16. Hi Christine, it certainly seems you are getting your money's worth out of that hour but do take time to rest it's very easy to lose yourself in what we do but self care is much needed when on the mend. That repair looks fine to me, make do and mend that's what I say. Hope the sun continues to shine tomorrow so you get to enjoy even more outside time at the top/bottom of the garden.. Stay safe Tracey #3 xx

  17. That's quite some projects you worked on... I found a pattern for a mask last week but need to wash the fabric firs before sewing (and I need 'pipe cleaners' (those go on top so you can bend/close the mask at your nose bridge, it's a little more complicated mask than the ones you made...) We don't have to wear face masks outside yet but I think we are asked in the near future to do so. Anyway, I'm glad you're doing fine. Thanks for your visit the other day, have a nice weekend and stay safe! Hug-from-a-distance, Marit #27

  18. One project a day, sounds good to me, why rush? Seriously you need to take it slow. Sewing too, I need a new machine as I get get the tension right, no matter what I do, but can't warrant a new one as I sew so rarely. I had to get it out to make masks and it played OK then, when I tried to more, it refused to play again!
    Take care and keep well
