Today is cold and windy, very cold and very blustery. A Winnie the Pooh sort of day.
On Friday I was going to celebrate with a typical British dinner . . .cottage pie and bread & butter pudding. Unfortunately PJ had a poorly tummy so we just had soup . . .
Yesterday was pie and pudding day!!!
The cottage pie was eaten before I remembered to take a photo but it looked delicious . . . just like this bread and butter pudding!!!
We sat outside most of the afternoon, I wanted to finish the tiny cardigan I have started. It's for a preemie at our local hospital, I don't class myself as a knitter but I am having a try.
While sitting there my eye was caught by this sight.
It's a Variegated Weigleia, has varying shades of pink blossoms at the moment which cascade down almost to the ground.
How beautiful is that in close up?
I love it, the build up to this blossoming goes from the Forsythia, Ribes, Lilacs and now to this .... The Ceonothos is in blossom but there aren't many flowers on the Kerria this year.
The Orange pompoms of the Kerria amid the purple Ceonothus is another wonderful sight . . . but not this year.
I did notice that the blossom on the 'architectural' plant has now opened out . . . . very pretty with its raggedy edges.
I went to the local shop with PJ yesterday, he went to fetch the papers so I went for the ride out.
They had some plants so I had a quick look . . . chose a couple of pots. . .
I love the smell of Nicotiana in the evenings, they grow quite tall so will be good in front of the clematis and these look to be mixed colours.
Gazanias are always lovely, these are looking sad because they fell out of the trolley and, of course, landed the wrong way up!!
I hope they will recover before they are planted . . . patches of colour between the Heucharas . . . .
Beautiful cards Christine, and I LOVE your flowers, they will continue to give you joy as much the wonderful plants you have already. Especially in lockdown! GLad you enjoyed your trip out.
