Here we are though, sharing desks etc as per usual, except this time it is our WIPs.
Quite a lot of infill has been done, I have completed the trees, the roofs, details on the middle house and now I am working on the right hand side house.
While I have been sitting outside under the umbrella stitching we have had several visitors.
Among the 'normal' garden birds we had a pigeon who decided that as it was soooo hot he needed a bath to cool down. He kept us amused as he nearly fell out once or twice!
We also had a Jay fly down (bad photos due to stupid phone camera!), have a look around and then fly away again.
During the night we have been visited by a fox. He has been coming for a couple of weeks now, patrols round the ranch but then leaves. Yesterday morning I woke to a right todo going on in the ranch - Mr Fox was lying on the sacks of chippings trying to bite his way in to the chickens . . . .08.30hrs!!! Broad daylight!! Cheek!
Note the indentations . . . .
Exciting times this weekend . . . .
I have to tell you now that Little Soldier has had a birthday!
He's FIVE!!
He had two lots of candles because . . . he could!
Candle one was a sparkling five, it fizzed and fizzed.
Candle two was five bright blue ones which he took great pleasure in blowing out!!
Someone else also had a great time . . . .
Happy Anniversary! Happy Anniversary! Happy Anniversary!
I can't believe Dexter is 5 already, how time flies Christine. I hope the fox doesn't make it in to the chickens. Love the embroidery, it is coming on really well. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #15.
ReplyDeleteMorning Christine. Happy 11th anniversary. Lovely embroidery - well done. Sitting out in the sun stitching! Goodness, what a treat. The sun may have shone here, but only yesterday has it become warm enough this week - the heating even cut in the other day!!! Enjoy the sun, the warmth, the birds... and keep the fox out of the chicken run...
ReplyDeleteTake care. Stay safe. God bless.

Hi Christine - so nice to hear from you. Your needle work looks lovely with those little houses. I enjoy having garden visitors too - rabbits, squirrels and a deer were on the list last week - and a lucky little mouse that Oreo brought into the house intact and I managed to save! Can't believe your Little Solder is already five! They look like a handful in that picture LOL - the expression on his friend's face is priceless! Hope you're doing well and keeping safe! Thanks so much for your visit! zsuzsa #30
ReplyDeleteLovely photos Christine - I love to watch birds too - we have blue tits in a nest box in the garden at the moment. Sun shining here so I will be celebrating WOYWW 11 with a glass of something bubbly. Happy bloggyversary xx Jo #23

Aw that birthday cake looks great, bet the littlies enjoyed the day. Thank you for your earlier visit, so lovely yo see you. I'm wondering if I can dig out a cross stitch project as nothing else really works for me in the garden and the weather is so glorious I dont want to be stuck inside! Might have a go, my eyes will soon tell me if I'm pushing my luck. Happy WOYWW, stay safe, stay well, Cindy #26
ReplyDeleteHappy 11th Bloggyversary Christine! You are featured a couple of times on the video I made for my blog today. You don't have pink hair in a couple of them and it's hard to realise it's you!! Lovely to see your embroidery doing so well and nice work for catching that jay on your fence. How can Dexter be five already? Blimey time flies.....

Happy 11th Anniversary, Christine. It was good catching up with you again. I've been gone for almost a year. You are working on a beautiful project. And I really enjoyed the birds and the story of Mr. Fox. He's brazen, indeed. Happy WOYWW from # 6.
ReplyDeleteWe have two jays coming into our garden quite a lot lately, I do think they are handsome birds. The blue tits that nest each year are an obvious delight to us and last year we saw the baby one learning to fly from one bush to another - they were so funny.
ReplyDeleteWe stopped feeding the pigeons as they would eat us out of house and home and take all the food intended fore the smaller birds but they are so funny as they are very clumsy when they land on something. The collared doves are pretty but my favourites are the blackbirds. Since we don't have pets any more I have adopted the birds and spend hours watching them..
Well, that is a lovely picture you are embroidering, what a lot of patience you have. How is hubbies model making going on. We have been deprived of seeing hi and his intricate work this year - maybe you could give him a spot on your blog for us.
have a lovely week and enjoy yourselves.
Hugs, Neet 5 xx
Hi Christine. Loving the photos of your stitching project and the birthday boy too. So pleased you managed to stop the fox breaking in. Thanks for all your kind comments and wishing you a very happy woyww 11th Anniversary. Big hugs, Angela x17x
ReplyDeleteI love your little blackwork houses, Christine - very pretty indeed. Great birthday party pictures too, and all the garden birds. It's so nice to be able to sit out under the umbrella, isn't it.

THank you for your visit, Christine, and I'm really glad you enjoyed my post! I do have rather a lot of UFOs, don't I! Your dolls house sounds a lovely project and it would be good to fix it up. We used to have a dolls house shop near us (sadly now closed) and although I don't have one, I used to love wandering around in there and looking at all the fabulous little items, all in miniature! It was magical. I can see how it could become a real obsession. Have you ever seen Queen Mary's dolls house at Windsor Castle? I'm glad you like my hubby's teddies card too.

Sorry I’m late! To be honest, if I’d known you were going to shock me with news of that baby boy being a five year old now, I think I would have averted my eyes!! Hope he had a lovely day, birthdays are so exciting at that age aren’t they. Huge well done on the stitching, it’s quite lovely and a lot of work, I know! The Fox is a pain, they don’t care at all and will case the joint and keep trying for as long as you have chickens, believe me.
ReplyDeleteOops sorry missed replying last week, Super embroidery, love the different stitches adds effect. Must go see the other post you mention now... BJ a bit behind! OOps sorry
