Interesting discovery

Last week when we were trying to do the garden and PJ fell, we also noticed that the roses in the front garden were smothered, and I mean smothered, in Aphis.  I was really upset about this as I don't like using pesticides.  I feed the birds in the back garden, we have a robin's nest in the garage so I don't want to use anything that might harm them.
I felt outraged in a way as the birds were not 'earning their keep' but, you know, nothing escapes their little eyes.  Yesterday I noticed that the bushes were completely clear!
During the afternoon, as I looked out I saw bluetits, robins and sparrows all checking out the roses, the top side and underneath of the leaves and all up the stems.
I think they have earned their keep!!

Apart from sourcing and starting to create some ATCs, I have been helping PJ move a few pots around the patio.
The chickens, the clever ones that is, are very good at getting through the gate so we are having to arrange a lock on it and change the direction of the opening.
We moved the large pot and put a smaller pot in its place, now I'll have to clean up the large pot....

Did I mention that the Robins in the garage have another fledgling ....

  1. Yep! wondering how my well fed birds are going to earn their keep too. Neighbour saw a rat, and blamed our bird seed and balls, so cleared up, we haven't seen it (just one). At least it keeps neighbour happy?
    Keep safe and well
